Defense Strategy 2nd Base

Yes- it’s my “protect 2nd” shift, when there is a runner on 1b only.

I see your points 💯! I’m trying to understand why baseball is so different. In my case, I play a shift, 2nd moves in front and over, RF fills gap. Then no collision visual issues occur.

I’m sure there is a “cat and mouse” element. In my LL I did not see a bunt all season, so that was not a threat. Maybe in Jr league I’ll see it.

Thank you for reply! It just seems many folks are insisting that’s ss must cover 2B on steals…like it’s officially the only way.

Old thread, I know, but does anyone have insight as to why baseball covers 2nd on steals differently than softball? I‘m used to (w RHB) that 2B would take the throw down to 2nd. In softball, I’ll cheat 2B to middle to cover. I’ve received some heat about it (coaches/parents), but I know I’ve had...
