    Becoming a pitcher only?

I would say at the college level these are the only P who hit, the ones who are game changers at the plate. P who are just middle of the pack typically don't hit in college. Not worth the risk and not worth the time needed to dedicate to bullpens and taking BP when you can have a replacement who...

    Covid extra year eligibility

Peculiar? Yes I agree but also totally on brand for the Ivy League. They very much like to do things their own way. Case in point the only D1 conference that does not offer athletic scholarships even for the sports where they compete for national championships i.e Lacrosse

    Covid extra year eligibility

NCAA controls eligibility but the Ivy league does not allow graduate students to compete in intercollegiate athletics so Ivy league athletes all had the additional year of eligibility granted to them by the NCAA but in order to utilize it they had to either delay graduation or transfer to...

    Congratulations Ella !!! 🎉

I think this topic varies so much from school to school that for Narps it is close to impossible to make a recommendation without knowing what specific schools they are interested in and even then it may vary from school to school such that a recommendation is difficult. For student athletes...

    Congratulations Ella !!! 🎉

I can't speak to MIT which has different rules because they are D3 but my DD is currently a Soph at an Ivy and I can tell you they utilize the full complement of NCAA allotted practice time that is the same for all D1 schools including P5, they also utilize all the little tricks to push the...

POLL~ THIS or THAT~ early recruitment or transfer portal

We didn't really run in to much of that at the mid major level. Not saying it didn't happen at all just wasn't that common in our experience and would still have been solved with my suggestion of prohibiting verbal commitments without prohibiting all recruiting communication.

POLL~ THIS or THAT~ early recruitment or transfer portal

The really early, 8th grade and under, was happening at a very small percentage of the D1 schools(top 25ish) so I have always felt they changed the recruitment rules for everyone because a few coaches at elite schools couldn't keep themselves from offering 6th graders. What I wish they had done...

    Sparkler review $$$

"If you build it they will come" Recruiting is how they built it. Yes after they hit a critical mass it became an event in the softball world that drew teams without significant recruiting interest. My DD's team went at 18u even though everyone on the team was committed. Wanted to play the...

    Pitching stats per level

The good news is as a pitcher it should be relatively easy to stick with your commitment to your current team while also guest playing for other higher level teams to gauge where she stands. Teams are always looking for guest pitchers, just figure out where they post in your local area. Once she...

    Pitching stats per level

Only way to find out is to try. Nothing you hear on this site about your DD's stats will tell you where she is at. One of many issues is A,B,C can mean very different things in different areas. She is clearly having some amount of success so go to tryouts for a few different teams and you will...

    Sparkler review $$$

This may be true for players who live in the softball hotbeds(Cali, Southeast, Texas) but for those of us outside these areas we often need to travel to get even local colleges to watch our games. Many of these college coaches concentrate their recruiting efforts on tournaments with the highest...

    Sparkler review $$$

I never looked before but your post inspired me. In DD's last year of travel in 2022 they gave up 10 HR's in 6 games in Colorado and only gave up 4 in 12 games at PGF Premier 18u a few weeks later and those fields were also 200' with temporary fences. Because of how far they advanced at PGF I...

    Sparkler review $$$

Yes, Yes, and Yes couldn't agree more, and my DD's not a pitcher. Couldn't believe the number of check swing and mishit HR's I saw in our years there. The one thing I would add is the thin dry air also makes movement pitches much flatter. Never understood more why Mike Hampton was so bad for...

    Sparkler review $$$

One thing I would add is the supplemental power pool I found to be worth it. DD's first year going they were in that. Competition was still very good. Played at main complex with plenty of coaches and you can win your way into the power pool which for us worked out great because they were able...

    POLL~ about QUITING during the...

If we stipulate that we are not talking about children being in a dangerous situation, then no I don't think it is a good idea. It is most likely an emotionally charged decision and that is typically not the best way to make significant decisions. Give yourself some time after the tournament...
