10U less than six months live pitching

60% was our target at that age, 65% when she got older. 150 pitches over a weekend shouldn't be too much for most 10 year olds. If they are in the same game it can be tough. If she is experiencing a high level of soreness at that age I would be examining her mechanics more closely, that...

    More power

I think most tournaments in GA set the temp fences at 200' or less. Home runs are fun.

    Favorite Game/Practice Balls

I'm surprised I couldn't find more discussion of balls on the forum. What's everyone's favorite game balls/and or practice balls? We have bought from Sterling in the past but they seem to be out of stock of all of their balls. I have also heard some discussion recently of different...

Is the slip pitch a legal pitch?

It's illegal. Arm passing the hip or some loophole doesn't matter. You aren't allowed to make a rotation of the arm after releasing the pitch.

    First showcase

Keep your expectations in check. If she and her teammates haven't spent a lot of time at camps and emailing coaches there probably won't be any coaches at your games. Especially for 2023's. Just showing up at showcases and hoping for to be seen simply doesn't work unless you have super elite...

Opinions re: Game Strategy: Bush League or nah?

You need 15 to end the game after 3 innings so you didn't go that far over. Once you've emptied the bench you want to let those kids play a little so it puts you in a bit of a bad spot. Getting to 18-20 vs. 15 is not uncommon in GA.

Supporting the economy one gadget at a time

We have no problem using our Blast app on our Android phones. The IOS app is definitely better but the Android app works very well.

Supporting the economy one gadget at a time

Took the plunge for $75 and glad I did. Good motivational tool for DD, especially during the quarantine. She's tracking her swings and stats. Love the video capabilities. Now I just have to resist the urge of the $60 a year premium package (although I'll probably at least do the 30 day trial).

How often should DD (a sophomore) send an email to a coach?

If you sign up for a profile platform like TPN or Sportsrecruits they track profile views and video views. Not free but much easier.

DD approached to play lacrosse; good idea or no?

My competitive softball playing daughter loves lacrosse. They are not goalies so all the running and pounding wears the body down but they are experiencing life. She definitely pitches better when lacrosse season winds down.

    MaxPrep's Top 25 HS teams

And of course this excludes all states that play HS softball in the fall, so not really a national list.

    COACHES PRE-GAME WARMUP SUPERVISION PLEASE

Agree. I've never understood why a coach only has 1 pitcher ready to go. See HS teams do this all the time. Always have a Plan B, you never know what might happen during a game.

    COACHES PRE-GAME WARMUP SUPERVISION PLEASE

The correlation to what a pitcher does warming up to what she may do in a game is very low (like my golf swing on the range). Be careful making decisions based on what you think you see in warm ups. Warm ups are for getting the body ready for competition, not to show off your stuff to the...

    COACHES PRE-GAME WARMUP SUPERVISION PLEASE

    What are they "evaluating"?

    tryouts planning etc.

They are only going to build up their arm strength by throwing so don't shy away from it. That said, if you feel like you need to back off adjust infield and outfield drills to simply drop balls in buckets after they make the play rather than making a throw. Add more baserunning, teams...
