I see the number sanctioning bodies as much or bigger problem. Here in Central FL there are 8-10 different ones to choose from and that has allowed for an explosion of teams. If these team had to compete against better competition on regular basis, they wouldn't be in existence in my opinion
I would say go to all the Tryouts you want, but if there are 5 rank them in order of most desirable spot. If you get an offer early on from #1 or #2 better jump on it
DEFINITELY would not have been as hard on my first, I grew up playing Football and took that "Mentality" to coaching and parenting her Early on. I learned after a couple seasons girls are very different from boys. So her last few years of playing things were much more enjoyable for our entire...
Pretty much how we've run our teams, first year B/second year A. Think at especially World Series, when you have 10-15 States represented. It's hard to "judge" teams place to play and level of competition. Age is something that is black and white, easy way to sperate teams
Looks like location in the Country may have a lot to do with choices you make and opinion on teams doing it. Most people are probably honest, but I do believe it leads to the proverbial "Trophy chasers"
Reason I asked for opinions, to see what the "general consensus" was. I've coached for almost 20 years myself and I'd never want to Coach or have either of my Daughters on a team that feel they need to play B at the 2nd year at age group.
What's everyone thoughts on 2nd year teams (ex: 05 teams playing "B" in 12u), personally I'd be embarrassed to be part of a team that plays B as a 2nd year team. At 16u/18u probably not as big as deal, because girls are pretty much fully grown. So your truly trying to judge skill level, but at...
Have been Coaching for 15+ years and we've never had a no guesting policy... If your team isn't playing much by all means get some reps. Here is the question to me, how much playing time is enough? We're in FL and take a month off middle of December till Middle of January. Also a month middle of...
For girls under 12 I recommend Demarini, there light and have plenty of "Pop". I Coach a 10u Travel team and every girl swings some kind of CF6,CF7 or CF8 either -10/-11 between 29-31 inch. Love the Xeno/LXT for older girls, just in general a little Heavy(not all) for young ones.
