I believe a player should go wherever is the best fit. I think D3 is a great place to play softball. The academic argument is not really valid for most schools. Sure there are a few schools that have the "best" specific program,. There are a lot of really good schools with really good...- 55dad

A very good post. Thank you. At the end of the day if your DD gets to play softball in college and is happy with where she landed everyone should call that a win. I am not hung up on anything. Perhaps "too low" was a bad term to use. I get that there is demand for teams. I get that players want to know they have a spot on a team. I am not trashing D3 softball. I have a kid who went to a D3 school. My experience is with a perennial top 10 type team...- 55dad

The good D2 will beat the good D3. A freak pitcher who is pitching at too low a level can be an exception. There are terrible teams at every level but the best D2 teams are pretty darn good. Righty to Lefty slapper
I always love the term "lefty" slapper. Do you know a lot of "righty" slappers? Just giving you a hard time. If you are turning them around start them early if they are fast and then hope they stay fast when they get older. How fast they need to be depends on their age and what level they play...- 55dad

Slapper attempting bunt with 2 strikes
That is one reason why a slap-bunt is a deadly weapon. It is not a drag. They slap at the ball but stop the bat right before impact and just tap it. It is not a soft-slap and it is not a drag bunt. It is a slap with a bunt result. Tough for the umps to call that a bunt.- 55dad

Yep. It is a tough call for the ump and with the slapper moving and slapping at the ball it is tough to call an out. I have seen a lot of umps rule it by how far the ball travels. If it drops and rolls a few feet then goes foul and dies you might get a K called.- 55dad
