Being a coach sometimes can feel like you’re stuck in the movie Groundhog Day. You offer a correction, the player makes it for a repetition or two, then goes back to what she was doing before. So you offer the correction again and the cycle repeats. This pattern particularly shows up with younger players, but […]

Nice post. I've played horse with hitters off the tee into an open cage. Move the tee around and call your shot. Oppo line drive on outside pitch. Low tee line drive reaching top back of cage. One bounce grounder to back of cage. Etc. etc. If hitter makes it, next hitter must match or get a letter. Etc. etc.

Thank you for this. My daughter just recently started with a hitting coach which is convenient for me as I get to play good cop to his "bad cop" but for the life of her she just cant grasp knob to ball or even plainly hands to the ball. Swing is great minus that very BIG flaw. She is very competitive so this is definitely worth a try.

Actually it's a good thing that she's not taking the knob or hands to the ball. Which end of the bat do you want to hit with? The knob or the barrel? You should take the part of the bat you want to hit with to the ball.
