Truer words have never been spoken. And a difficult concept for the newly initiated. And perhaps the question is wrong, but you never did answer the question. So, I'll answer it for you. Speed first. And, no, I am not a pitching coach. NOW we have something to talk about!

Actually, Top Notch, it's mechanics first IMHO. Speed without mechanics is a disaster waiting to happen - probably further down a pitcher's career.

But yes. As you work on the mechanics, go for all the speed you can. Accuracy is a result, not a goal.

So we should be simultaneously be working on mechanics and speed. Make sense to me.

Yes. Mechanics are the driver of both speed and accuracy. If you have great or even very good mechanics, you can bring maximum energy to it and you will achieve both speed and accuracy. If you focus only on accuracy you may not get great mechanics, and won't develop great speed. If you only focus on speed with no regard for mechanics you will throw hard, but will struggle with accuracy, especially if you're trying to hit specific spots.
