What exactly is scary about the catcher?

Why (to her) is this different from stealing 2nd or 3rd base? She slides and perhaps her cleats hit the catcher. Big whoop.
When we ask her about it she says I don't know. We had this issue pop up again this weekend. I think it's not just sliding at home but it going home in general. It only happens when it's a pass ball. She freezes half way down the line and runs back to 3rd. so I think not only is she scared to slide it also going home on a passed ball. I personally think she doesn't want to get out because she feels its going to let her team down. I keep telling her it's the other way around.

Hmmm...

I have no advice. But hope it's short-lived. Perhaps practice it a bit, and ask your catcher to purposefully take her time getting the ball so your runner can see how much time they have to score.

Thanks for the help. I will try what you said above and see if that helps. I also hope it's short lived.

My DD just turned 10 years old and is a first year 10u player. Last season I noticed that once she got to 3rd she would not be able to advice home on a passed ball. She would go half way then go back to 3rd even if she could make it home if she slides. When I asked her about it she says she is scared of sliding at home because the catcher. I guess she thinks she's going to collide with the catcher if she goes home. Also she says she is worried that if she gets out the team/coach will be mad at her. The coach and I both told her that the team and coach won't be made if she gets out. I told her by not going you are going to let down your team. Does anyone have any advice on what to say or do? I know she's young but I'm just trying to limit the fear and let her enjoy the game even more then she does already.
My daughter and most of the girls we've played with weren't super pumped about sliding at 8,9,10...My daughter just started really letting slide rip this past year and she was 11. Just turned 12 not too long ago and I know she's ready to rip slides left and right now! She'll get there, just give her time! (y) (y)

Wait until she plays on turf.

EDIT: Our team very rarely plays on turf. Perhaps y'all do often.
