DD's team has the pitchers throw BP once a week during practice. Not the same as Bill throwing BP :p but better than nothing. I know some (typically pitcher's parents..lol) don't like that idea but if the pitchers know this ahead of time they can work it into their throwing schedule for the week.

I do worry about my DD getting hurt, but much less now (on a serious, older team) than before. It was the goofing off and silly stuff that would result in an injury IMHO.

I would love for her to get more experience pitching to hitters but honestly really, really want the girls on her team to get more hitting practice with live pitchers.

Don't make hitting complicated! It's more about timing than what pitch is coming. See the ball, hit the ball!
You mean it's THAT simple? Gee whiz, I wish I had known that. All I had to do was see the ball in order to hit it!! You know, I thought I was seeing it as I would swing and miss at it, and sometimes looking ridiculous on a change up. Here I was thinking that if I had KNOWN that change up was coming, I'd have had a better change of not only hitting it but not looking like a fool in the process.

Overall, I don't disagree, people make things complicated. And I don't read the hitting forum much but, in the pitching forum... forgetaboutit. It's unreal how complicated they make it. And rather than trying things for themselves, they continue to ask other people who've never done it how it should be done. This usually adds more confusing and complications. It's also why I haven't posted there in a while and not sure if I will in the future.

That would be great if there were more resources like yourself that could throw live much less a rise, but the reality is most coaches and hitting instructors can't.
You make a valid point. I do think my pitching to hitters is a huge bonus and advantage. No doubt. And I'm surprised that more of the girls in my roster of pitchers don't ask me to do this for them. Maybe their hitting coaches advise against it?? IDK. I make it perfectly clear, I am not a hitting coach and I don't pretend to be one. That said, I can tell a lot to a hitter by the way they swing, position in box, etc. about how I would pitch to them in a game. But as for making corrections to a swing, I leave that to the pro's.

This would be a difficult time of year for it but, aside from the college season, any TB team could probably get a college level pitcher to throw live to their team. If parents all chipped in $5-10 each, I can guarantee a lot of college level pitchers would come throw to your team.

Having your own pitchers throw live doesn't always work. Yes it gives them reps and the hitters get swings but, most of the time the hitters can dig in because they know the pitchers won't hit them, the hitters usually know the pitcher pretty well (and vice versa), and sometimes it's just hard to take those situations too seriously so it's not the same as having someone else throw the live to the hitters. Sometimes it's the best we can do, other times there's better options available than just having your own pitchers throw to your hitters. Have the parents chip in and get a pitcher from a level above your own throw to the hitters.

How often are you in disagreement with what others are posting? Why are you alluding to not posting in the future?
