Are today’s hitters actually better?

I was watching the 95 World Series, and they gave the stats of the Indians in 95. They batted .290 as a team, lead in stolen bases and had 8 starting players hitting .300+.

I don’t think in 95 a young Ramirez, Thome and Bell lacked in any physical aspect.
That's only 3 players. It seems all teams have physical specimens on their rosters with one anomaly, Jose Altuve. Wise words from Domingo: You gotta elevate to celebrate. Pop da chain!

That is an appeal to extremes and also a red herring.

The physical aspects to hitting need not be confined to strength. Todays hitters are better on average (as well as todays pitchers are better).

Yes, as a group today's hitters are way better physically; plus there is way more information about what makes a hitter good. Slow motion alone has removed a lot of bad ideas about hitting and how hitting REALLY works. And so on.

Pitchers as a group are better as well. Same thing.

Also, players are adapted and trained to how the game is played today; HR/lifted balls prioritized; pitching specialization prioritized; etc, etc.

It's interesting to look at the 1995 HR derby numbers.
