I let my DD use her good bats all the time even for BP. With the weather getting cooler I think it would be wise to buy a practice bat for when it is cold. What is a decent bat that can hold up in the cold for practice? Looking for a drop 10.

Find you an old school Easton, one piece or two piece, either one are tanks and will hold up fine for cold weather.

Check Play it again Sports. What size?

Posted on FB in a fastpitch gear group and had a guy offer an Easton Stealth Speed SSR3B. Pics looked in good shape. Got it for $50 shipped. That will work, dont really know a lot about the bat. But it should be fine for some cold day hacks this winter.

Either is bad....game or bp. A cold weather bat is always a good idea

When a bat gets cold...composite weave doesnt flex like it would when its warm. So a ball
hit off them is always a risk. NOW, if you add a cold ball to that...yuk. Because a cold ball, increases
its compression. Now you have a bat barrel that doesnt flex as well, hitting a ball that is
higher compression because of the cold. Fibers breaking can easily happen.

I have always said, if you wanna see a ball go. You have a cold ball, and a warm bat...best hitting combo :)

Core & pattar are right, it’s a cold balls that kill bats most often! I usually never worry about bats from a young girl who’s using a size 30/20, probably 98% of those girls don’t swing hard enough to do any damage!

You did great on the SSR3B!

Excellent bat. Some people online called them “Killer B’s”, there were several models that ended in B and they were pretty much all good.

Local girl went to a mid major in early 2010’s who probably could have played anywhere she wanted. Was a “for real” bomb dropper. She broke a shopping cart full of the Stealths including the Stealth Speeds. I worked with her mom, she was always on the hunt for them and they were starting to get hard to find towards the end of her hs career.

I bought the black with purple letter version of that bat a few years ago for dd. It was a good bat- she trashed it out in one winter though.

Make sure your daughter knows she can’t swing that bat in games.

If you are playing in temps that are cold enough that it can cause problems for a bat then I would be more worried about injuries to players..that said a BP is always a good idea. If you want to use it in cold weather knock yourself out.
