@FP26

the way I see it. The obliques pull the upper body around, while the upper(rib cage)returns the favor pulling the obliques and hips into extension. Hip decel (posture) is what stops the upper and propels the arms/hands. Hip extension is the result. Basically the upper slingshots off the pelvis deceling the pelvis. Pulling everything up and into extension. For me the hands set the plane, the posture maintains it. Jmho.

yeah for the most part. He has that same chopping wood motion from over his back shoulder w the same kind of results. pretty consistent young player.

the barrel does take a slightly shallower route due to gravity and centrifugal forces. When game speed is applied.

The barrel is above the shoulder and has to work down. I mean the contact point is down below from the starting point.

However, as Mudders just posted, there is more to the swing then just swinging down. Much more than a downward wood chop.

If you take "downward" out of your sentence, would it make more sense?

Actually this is a good GIF to illustrate pro demo vs game swing. The overhand chop the hands are launched in front of the shoulder with no posture which they do in a demo, while the underhand chop, the hands are launched from behind the back shoulder(more kin to FYB which also gets the core more involved) with some posture. This is very simplified analysis and not a perfect comparison because really the axe man is DBSF :)

Yes, as stated here...
It's just a matter of how people naturally swing an object, depending on how they want to strike another object with it ...moving or not.
When given a goal of where a hitter should hit the ball (LD, GB, FB...), the body will organize itself to accomplish that.

Replace the tree with a ball on a tee, tell a hitter where you want them to hit the ball, and see which tree chopper swing you get...naturally.
