Your heroes are talking about and taking the hands and barrel straight down through contact.
You don't understand the word down in this context, nor does your hero :). The pros talk about being direct to the ball. A pitch at the shoulders vs a pitch at the knees, the hands are still direct to the ball... but what changes Shawn?

"Down to" the plane of the pitch focusing on hitting the top half out front vs swinging up to the plane of the pitch.

You do realize that this clip is not showing the ball being hit on the top half, right?

Yep !! For hitters they missed there target and this is the result. Not much room for error which is why they preach it.

If your following we just debunked that a direct route doesn’t happen. lol🪑

1. Who on here is saying swing down and through the ball? This is important because I do not believe anybody believes in this bat path.
This might come as a surprise to you, but not everyone who sees the pros "down to" demos is posting (or even reading) here. It's those folks that I'm referring to wrt that.

But this is an example of reply from a member here....
Actually I see it much differently. they have perfected ’swing down’. They have always done it.

this is much better now.

Is that the "swing down" to and "through" the ball you're talking about w/o any further instruction wrt sequence and posture?

This might come as a surprise to you, but I can speak for people I don’t of or have never spoken to, figured we’d just try to keep our conversation in scope of just this site and out conversations on here. Maybe even just this thread so we don’t muddy the waters too much. I think we have come to an agreement in this thread that optimal barrel path is not down and through… you agree?

You could at least use the right clip if you're going to use them...

Care to explain how when bunting, and attempting to hit the top half of the ball doesn't produce pop-ups fits into your theory?

Sure, been saying that since day one, if you're in agreement with that now, that's outstanding.

See my post just above this one, replying to someone talking about swinging....

...just today.

Do you believe that you can "swing down", hit the top half of the ball, and not continue to swing down through it after contact?

If so, when does the bat path turn up to hit the top half of the ball, and do you really believe that would cause the ball to have an upward flight instead of a downward one?

Yep. That contact point is obviously a mistake. It will clearly end in a pop up. However, what you are suggesting is that the pros are intentionally trying to make a mistake by aiming for the top half and simply hoping that they hit the ball slightly below center. Sounds to me like you are suggesting the pros dont know what they are saying or doing. Interesting...

Did you see Votto on how he was hitting HR’s? He said he has been trying to hit HR’s.

He must be right because he is an ML hitter. He is trying to hit HR’s! 😜
