extra innings. texas tiebreaker situation. first team up doesn’t put runner on 2nd base. nobody, including umpires, notices. 2 runs score, no outs before it comes to the ump’s attention. what should the umps do?

Nothing. Play on.

And when the home team comes up, place a runner on second and be prepared to address with the visitor's head coach. And I would be doing that by saying that this isn't just my mistake - this is a shared mistake - the umpires are not the only one who should have noticed what should have happened and brought it up - coaches, players, scorekeepers, spectators....

My first full weekend of games this spring. Only notable one was a 10u rec game, when coach thought it would be a great idea to have his travel pitcher throw to a newb catcher - caught one square in the face and one in each forearm...only throwing 45ish...but from 35 feet that smarts.

same game, had a pitcher throw 2 OVER the backstop.

Good thing the coaches, girls and parents were so nice...

12U open tournament, home team is up by 7-1. Home team is at bat with 2 outs. In the course of the visitor pitcher delivering her pitch, the alarm sounds for time limit. Batter pops ball straight up into the air above catcher, I verbalize "time has expired" while the ball is in the air and "ballgame" as the catcher catches the ball.
Visiting coach argues that he still had :22 on his clock and his assistant had :31 on his clock. Sorry coach, mine says :00. He says "Dont you tell me our watches are wrong! We started them the same time you did."
Not saying yours are wrong, coach, just that mine is right. :09 variance between your watches is a little suspect too...

With school, rec and travel all full steam ahead around here, ump shortages mean a lot of scrambling...so much that I had to do my first ever baseball game yesterday.

My initial impression is that it’s a lot easier. Plays take longer to develop, easier to anticipate where the play will be, and even balls and strikes seemed easier to track. Also not having to monitor look-back just made things more relaxed. Still like softball more, but the occasional baseball game is alright by me.

Also the catchers were way more willing to ask questions and interact in general (12u). Of course that could have just been these kids, and it’s a sample size of 1 game...

Not gonna lie, I laughed out loud at the sheer egregiousness of the play. Pretty sure flying dropkicks are against the rules.

One person's flying dropkick is another's high slide. Is it still a slide if you hit the catcher above the waist?
