Maddie has continued to fine tune her swing by streamlining her movement patterns while maintaining power. The moment the brain signals the swing and triggers the body has been enhanced and improved. In order to achieve this, some mechanical adjustments have had to be learned. The improvements were not as much in quickness but in how that quickness was generated. That change gave her a better barrel path through the zone.

Maddie was early to the contact point before the changes and now is even earlier. She learning how to hit with her adjusted mechanics and it takes time and lots of reps. Knowing to be patient and let the ball come to you is easier said than done. She has a great awareness and understanding of her swing and owns it 100% . I’m excited to follow her journey going forward.

Could you elaborate a bit on how you achieve this? I think my DD could benefit greatly from this.

1. work on placing the tee further back, even having the contact point behind the bellybutton.
2. work on hitting the outside pitch deep.
3. Use side flips to create a deeper contact point.
4. I like the Bonds drill off of a tee.
5.Pitch front toss middle to out on the plate
6. hit out of a 45 degree angle tee or FT.

First AB with her new Ghost Advanced :)

She miss-hit this just a little low, but it carried very nicely right out of the yard. It's fun to see her power at a point where imperfect contact still does damage.

This makes 3 bats in a row where she hit a HR in her first day with a new bat. No, I will not be buying her a new bat every week. She hits HRs on other days, too.

The best news of all came last week when she told me that she loves playing again, including going to practice. It was almost exactly a year ago when that love was gone, and she quit the game. She's still a bit on the fence about playing college ball, but I think she taking a step closer to making that decision. Her current team is pretty mediocre, as far as level of competition, but she's having fun. More than anything else, that's most important.

I like the swing; hard and aggressive. I see so many with exaggerated follow through, etc. which to me seems like it could make it hard to get outta the box quickly. Very nice.

Thank you. Maddie has found that it doesn't matter how fast she gets out of the box if the ball is on its way to the other side of the OF fence. It means she has to run further, but not as fast. She's not a fan of running, but is okay with a 240' trot. ;)

To be clear I meant I think she gets out of the box quickly for someone who crushes the ball! Lots of girls have these very big long swings that keeps them in the box too long.

After a couple week break, first BP swings of 2021...

She's very excited to get back in action with her TB team (we still don't know anything about HS ball). Considering where her head was a year ago, this is very good news.

Recently, Maddie got some real interest from a small D1 school, thanks in big part to a DFP'er sharing video on her FB page. It was exciting to have a coach seriously interested in recruiting her, but she decided it wasn't the right fit for her (geography, mostly). I'm still not sure how things for college are going to look for her, but I agree with the choice she made on this particular opportunity.
