I learned from Richard teacherman1986 and he said he was duplicating Barry Bonds swing. In the beginning, some of my students developed a very steep bat angle that would eventually need to be addressed. Barry also said , he chopped down on the ball and a few others said the same thing but it looks different on their live swing. Haley’s swing had a big loop in it and I thought the Bonds drill would help her. Richard described the chopping down motion that hitters feel changes when done one legged or two . Haley’s swings on the tee you can see the difference between weight being on one leg or two.

I have too small of a sample size to make bold claims about the benefits of doing the bonds drill but it has helps several of the challenges Haley and a few of my other students have had.
it certainly didn’t make the any worse as a hitter.

I see benefit for the Bonds Drill, especially with a hitter like Haley who had developed a loop issue. Like many drills, when they get taken too far, it can cause other issues. Keeping a close watch on how a new approach overlays with the hitter's current pattern is critical.

Haley’s been for a while working on letting the ball come in to her hitting zone. That’s different then what she originally was doing , going out beyond her hitting zone to hit the ball.

To sum it , be more patient.

The challenge in being more patient was, how can you be patient and maintain you aggressive attacking mindset?

Here are some swings that we feel are getting her closer to attacking the ball as she lets it get to her hitting zone. Thoughts and comments are always welcome. I’m open and always willing to learn.

A side note correct me if I’m wrong but I think she’s using her core more in her swing quickness.... W?

She appears to be getting leveraged fyb... This allows her to "swing down to" against her hips extending. She is using her core much better here..
