Definitely for me. Jenna uses her old Worth, LA 1st base mitt for her lessons (she just ordered a custom rig!) My old Worth Liberty Advanced is getting too floppy for my girls throwing over 55 and I need something I can use to protect my hand and thumb for 4 years plus (the life of my Liberty Advanced was almost 3 years.)
Ken......that's what catchers are for....you're the teacher :)

As a teacher, my favorite location to evaluate a spin is from the bucket... I’ve got the shin and face protection covered, but my hand is not happy with kids throwing 50+ with spins even half as good as your daughter’s. No matter how many thousands of drop balls I’ve seen, I still can’t seem to catch up to the elite spins that pitchers like Liv throw...

BTW, it was pretty cool hearing about Liv taking on Coach Pauly for rise spin at this weekend’s clinic! What an awesome experience!

Ken, you're like me, a Dad on a bucket, we don't catch for a living! ;) Drop balls didn't bother me (too) much except for when I was thrown 10/20 in a row! A really hard thrown two-seam with very sharp late breaking movement, you know, just enough to keep you from squaring up the catch in the pocket and making you palm the ball, too many of those hurt!

But the last two years before DD went to college, her rise ball, especially when she was throwing it really good at a lesson, they hurt! You just have to go get them quickly, and it's very easy to miss catch a hard spinning rise ball! So I'd say the rise gave me the most fits! Sitting up for a curve that doesn't curve isn't all that fun either!

It's true art to watch an elite catcher handle a pitcher who throws everything great, and hard, and makes it look like nothing!

This post brings back memories of building my DD's custom catcher's mitt. No telling how much time we spent looking at different options etc. That was when I was surprised to see DD was a traditionalist and likes the tan and black. She gets constant compliments for it from pitchers lol. They tell her it makes them think they're pitching harder than they are. The glove is loud when you catch it in the pocket just right.

Tell Ken to get the firm break in option.....it's for him, he can handle it!
