""I always tell parents of the younger girls that if you can't compress the walls you are waisting your money on a $300 bat. <snip> When you get about 14 yrs old is when the bat can make a differents.""
>>>While there is a lot of truth to this in theory, this statement isn't quite true: "They will hit the ball just as well with a $30 Walmart bat at 8,9,10,11,&12 yrs old."
It may be the Indian and not the arrow in general, but what if the indian's finger gets burned every time he uses the arrow with a fully flexed bow. The result is that he starts pulling the bow back only 1/2 way to avoid the pain and suddenly the $30 Walmart arrow isn't flying nearly as far as the $100 composite arrow.
So it goes with my younger girls. The reason that composites outhit walmart bats is because there is no hand sting with the composites. They are willing to swing away very hard without fear of being bitten. The difference probably approaches 100 feet on average. When they first used a composite, they quickly began hitting harder and harder as they developed trust in the stick. They claim that the virus NEVER stings and they refuse to put it down. This is why I like to see girls using composites at the age the hard ball starts being used. The bat absolutely does make a difference even if the hitter is too small to realize it's peak performance ie wall flexing, etc.
Granted, not all walmart bats will sting all hands; some composites may sting...mileage may vary.
My observations, not science
