Girls doing warmups hit teammate talking to someone behind Home Plate.

Smoked the poor girl in the back of the head with 50+ mph pitch.
She didn't lose consciousness but unable to move any extremities.

We all know the risks just from experiences at fields whether coaching or spectating but this is so bad

Fingers, ankles, legs (knees), arms (wrists) all can be injured but this seems to be the worst case scenario. Helpless feeling.

That’s why you always gotta pay attention and watch where the balls are. Should know better than to stand behind HP. Hope girl is ok but so preventable.

The girl was talking and had the backstop prior to the C/P coming out and warming up. They came out of the dugout and set up along 3rd base side and the first pitch....crack.

Man, that sucks! I hope this kid has a speedy recovery. This is the responsibility for everyone. The girls warming up, the kid who got hit. Assuming the player was talking to parentsw on the other side of the fence, coaches, etc. That location is a no go zone before the game during warm ups. If you have 4 sets of pitchers warming, balls will be flying.

Somebody here (Amy in Az maybe?) always used to say that “hit by a ball” injuries usually happen in warmups. After many years, my observation is that it seems to be true.

Hoping for a speedy recovery.

I hope she recovers quickly and fully! That is a scary situation, as much as i prech to pay attention accidents like that can happen quickly.
Last year my wife and i went to florida in march and saw a few mlb spring training games, we were waiting around before the game and were watching nelson cruz And two younger hitters take batting practice, while one was hitting cruz and the other young guy(willians astudillo) we’re talking, joking around near the on deck circle with neither of them facing the plate, hitting coach james rowson flagged down the pitcher And had him wait ofr a minute, while he rolled a panel of partable netting between them and the pitcher. A few minutes later they were all laughing about it but that situation could have just as easily ended poorly as well, and goes to show that it can be forgotten about at every level. I think of that day often when i see kids warming up.

YES!

During the Ambulance ride she was finally able squeeze her hand.

One of the Doctor parents on our team (by some weird fate we happen to have 2 parents that are Doctor's with kids on our current team) was keeping her awake until she was taken. Eyes kept rolling back in her head and she fought for 15 minutes to stay awake.

I'll know more Wednesday and post up anything I hear about her condition.
