So tonite blue gave a warning to my DD pitcher that her mannerism are unsportsmanlike and intimidating to the opposing team in her role as a pitcher....and he threatened that she would be disqualified if she didn't refrain. Here is her crime. When she has a runner on 1st, 2nd or 3rd, upon receiving the throw back from her catcher, she snaps her glove hand up with the catch and stares the runner down as she walks back to the circle. Then gets ready for her next delivery. She has been pitching since 8U is now 16U and has done this for as long as I can remember. It is just her thing. I was shocked when she came into the dugout to share what blue had told her. Never on our radar screen that this is even close to intimidation or unsportsmanlike.. And no one has ever complained to this effect, it seemed that the only one being a snowflake was blue.
Pitchers are supposed to be intimidating by their actions throwing inside, and demeanor stone faced and unshakeable.
Sounds like a made-up BS call.

without a video it would is hard to comment. Any chance of finding a D1 video that replicates what your DD did? I only say D1 because there is alot more video from D1 out there. Any college division would work unless you have video of the actual "crime" and that would be good as well.

DD always watches runners back to their base. Her routine is to take the throw from the catcher, turn and hold the ball while walking to the back of the circle while watching the runners. She typically makes an aggressive spin once she has the ball — turning quickly with the ball in her throwing hand without raising it up to trigger the look back. She doesn’t turn back around to get her sign until the runners are on their respective bases.

Her intent is absolutely to intimidate the runners. Is that illegal?

That could still be interpreted as making a play on the runner(s). Hand with ball does not need to be raised, no fake throw needed.

I don't see any rule infraction (by the book).

However, I would remind our players who have reached base that you did your job (getting on base). You are a distraction to the pitcher. Keep it up!

Just saying.... either sport
Could be perceived 'the runners' are trying to intimidate the pitchers by being off the bases.

Wait for the next umpire to warn the runner for not getting back to the base fast enough....geeeez....
"Your antagonizing the pitcher go back to your base"

COME ON NOW !!!!

It's part of the game to create strategy, sometimes it comes with grit and intensity.
