I have backed my 12U pitcher up to 50' but that is the furthest we have went. It seems to help with her velo.

slightly off-topic - has anyone seen any difference in distance b/w IR pitchers and HE pitchers? We did a pitching competition a year ago after practice (10U), and our smallest and youngest player, who has great mechanics but hasn't quite found the speed yet, was able to throw strikes about 10-15 feet further out than our HE pitchers.

We have been doing long toss twice a week since my daughter was 12. She is now 17 and regularly gets it out to between 175-187 feet, underhand, and consistently hits 65-66 on the radar gun.
Thank you ... Haley hit 150 ft. Yesterday started at 130 ft. A month ago. Going to clock her speed Friday.

Twenty,
What kind of advances did she make early on?
She consistently threw a little farther each week we did it. And then every once and a while would have a big jump of 10 to 15 feet. As far as speed Rick Pauley’s chart is accurate +\- a mile or so with 125 be 55 mph and then every 5 for after would be equivalent to 1 mph faster. Also this needs to be done being loose and relaxed and throwing the ball high going out. When she started she was 123-127 but with in a few weeks was up into the mid to high 130’s.

Started in 14U and did it all the way through college. It was standard fare for pitchers in the SEC.
DD has growth plate injury after moving up in speeds quite dramatically. I contribute part of the injury to the stopping of long toss as part of the normal routine. First thing she'll be doing when she can pitch again is work long toss back into the daily routine.
