Agreed, I’m just saying it can be viewed as a top down action. I’m not saying as I was taking swings my lowerbody didn’t become more involved. I was becoming more aware of my body as I progressed.

As you can see my body actions actually improved with the thought of using the hands. Instead of trying to turn the lowerbody that creates a sequence to the next body part. Which eventually works it way into the upperbody. My hip rotation is actually worse in kinetic chain swing, due too faulty thinking. My old actions create chaos in the swing as I try to use the body.

To be honest, I have really never been on board with phrases such as "top down", "bottom up", or "middle out". To me they are just buzz words that really don't mean much. In an athletic motion such as swinging a bat, the entire body is used to a certain extent. That said, if any of these phrases help someone with their understanding, great. Knock yourself out. I just find them worthless...

I have been on record for years as saying "hands are the trigger". That doesn't mean that the core, rear leg, or any other body part are not used or are not important. It's just that hands are the only thing I think about when facing live pitching. During tee swings or BP I may have different focuses, but against live pitching, it's hands and has always been hands for me.

FYI. When I was young, all pro hitters talked about was hands. I cannot honestly remember any pro hitter talk about swinging down at that point in time. It was hands, all day every day.

As I was swinging I was becoming aware of
my body. I’m sure next time I swing, I’ll become even more aware. In fact, I might have been even more aware.

I’m just saying that waiting for the kinetic chain to transfer energy or that the hands just hold onto the bat don’t work for me.

Like any cue, anything can be overdone.

I agree completely. When a hitter is training they can focus on whatever is needed. But when they are in the box they need to simplify. For me focusing on hands alone allows me to do that. Get the sequence right in practice and let it shine in the game. Each pitch happens way too fast to cloud your mind.

His hitter has poor lead forearm and barrel alignment at contact.🙈
You put a team of 10 YO on the field with this swing and the work ethics to improve a bit each year and you'll be kicking some butt. :devilish:

Edit: Maybe in four years his strength and athleticism will start to get strong enough to develop a more elite swing.

Is this a DVD of you hitting?

The DVD is of the classic HR derby. It features MIckey Mantle. I was sent 2 of the same DVD’s years ago, there are three DVD’s in the series. They charged me for 2 of the same DVD. Never sent it back and it’s still in the wrapper.

Whoever wants it just pm your address and I’ll ship it right away.

I've had a breakthrough. This was a swing yesterday.

This was a swing today.

I think on the first swing it is ABAF and in the second swing there is a clear COD (change of direction). 😁
