I was perusing the USSSA Rulebook for umpiring my first games this weekend, and I found this gem in Rule 1-Playing Field- B. First, Second, Third Base shall be 15 inches square, made of canvas or other suitable material and not more than 5 inches high. Each base shall be securely attached to the ground.

5 inches high!

USA softball also says "not more than 5 inches in thickness". High School also says 2 to 5 inches thick. Don't trip!

Some bags seem taller in the middle then the edges, when new. I could see 5 inches being normalish.
