Hitting mechanics differ.
Pitching mechanics differ.
Words mean different things to people.
Time pitcher in the circle befor getting in the box.

Unfortunely most hitting training tools leave out timing.
Machines maybe the worst.

Live hitting best tool!

Set up a screen have teams pitchers throw few batters each.
Great for learning timing & pitchers mechanics, can mix in ptches to learn the variety of what pitchers body looks like throwing variety.

Reading a pitch is huge part of timing. Because uncertainty becomes hesitation.
Tenths of seconds = distance of ball travel

Btw to add,
Pitchers throw different speeds!
Woohoo luv calling pitches!:)

With the help of a former poster I learned to make these side by side clips. I liked what the clips showed at pitch release. And how the hitters moved to that point and from that point. The timing is similar whether it's a game or front flips it would seem

Makes sense, If you think about it, the time it takes in front toss from that distance, is not long at all. The time it takes for the ball to get to the batter at full pitch speed from further distance is about the same amount of time

In post #14, Trosky goes through his baseball timing drill, Hitting Clinic • Timing Station. I used it with 10U fast pitch and it made them very aware of the importance of timing during the games. they even discussed it in the dugout together and worked on it in when on-deck. Most amazing and wonderful to see them become :devilish: .

Biggest thing I see at the younger ages is that most try and get their timing down in the on-deck circle but they don't pay close enough attention to whether they are on time or not. They will time the first pitch be way late or way too early and then just continue with the same timing. I tell Marcela you need to pay attention to whether you are actually on time or not and then adjust accordingly..

I also tell my DD (lead off) to as close to the catcher as you can. If the ump doesn't tell you you are too close, you are not close enough. I want her start her gather early. The earlier and slower the better. Try to teach her the her gather should be the same whether the pitcher is fast and jerky or slow and rhythmic. Easier said than done.

Thats why I tell my DD that the Speed of your gather or sequence does not change, no matter what pitcher you are facing. Agreed easier said than done
