Same way that guy throws 375 up like its nothing.
FP, the oblique contraction from a leveraged position engages all available resources on all sides of the body.. I have been saying this forever..
JD, isn't leveraged at this point to engage all available resources.
Here's a nice example of using the bigger muscles to initiate/power the swing.
you beat me to this. Not sure why it's hard to understand that all some of us are saying is that the obliques go first. TDS has been saying it for years that if you get the up front actions correct the swing will naturally unfold. The obliques are the up front actions. Yes, pull across that line is the path of least resistance. But, apparently that is some kind of cheat code that upsets people bc they want to focus on the bigger muscles. All these stills are after the turn. You keep good spacing with the lower half and hip extension just happens. IF the turn is synced with the barrel.. that’s where the obliques come in. You must get the bat across the body without manipulation of the hands or barrel or hips. Obliques set up everything else. I don’t know why it matters how strong they are? Are we deadlifting? I didn’t think so. So maybe the power driven thoughts should change since we are swinging a bat. Not a sledgehammer. Try to stay in the realm of swinging a bat.
FP, can the pistons fire if you don't hit the pedal? That's what I expected you to say but it doesnt answer the question. The gas pedal in a car engages the acceleration of the engine but the gas pedal is not the power source.
FP, can the pistons fire if you don't hit the pedal?
Potato patato...I am not hung on the words. All I care about is having the hitter use them first. And to use them first (up front action) they don't need to know the difference between power and trigger. They just need to be shown.Saying the obliques power the swing is not anatomically correct in my opinion. If you had said the obliques trigger the swing, that could open an interesting discussion.
