Will it kill the kids not to play softball this season? It could kill them or a loved one if they do.
Amen to that, friend! Many having much more significant impact from this virus than losing a softball season. Lots of lessons for kids to learn here. Softball really isn't important in this context.

Protect the elderly and the vulnerable. Everyone else be as careful as possible and go about your business. Those who want to keep their players home...go ahead.

Were in PA and we'll be on the road a lot this summer.

To what end? There is already talk of NCAA extending the dead period so coaches likely won’t be traveling to any tournaments. With unemployment as high as it has been I would think families have limited funds to travel. Why not just organize friendlies and scrimmages this summer and start fresh when things open up more?

To play the same team week after week?
If we were in Cali or Texas maybe. In PA we have 3 legit 18u gold teams. The rest are not close. We have players on our team who are commited to SEC, Pac 12, ACC and other P5 conferences. Playing 18U B teams will not prepare these girls for what they will see in the fall and spring in college.
All of our 21s are committed so we're not chasing coaches around.

By the time we reached 2nd year 18u most of our players were either graduating high school seniors or college freshman already. We decided to play 23u/adult instead of 18u in order to give the team an opportunity to play against other college players. Pennsylvania, at least the eastern half, had several decent tournaments that we attended. It ended up being a lot of fun, and I believe the girls were better prepared than if they played 18u again. This was in 2018 so I'm not sure how those same tournaments will be this summer. This said, our team is split D2/D3. However, we played against several teams with P5 players. I remember one team in particular (from Virginia) that was loaded with P5 players.

Makes perfect sense. However with PA and NJ governors fighting like hell to stay closed for as long as possible to get a bailout we may not be open for play till August.
