Have never seen much data on many have been tested and of those how many have tested positive.

This data is given regularly, but you must really pay attention to how it is being reported. For example, for a long time our county was only reporting negative tests from the county health department — they were not reporting tests from the hospitals or private health care providers. They also were trying to not count residents of other counties seeking treatment here.

Check your state or county health department website. The raw data on positive tests, tests administered, and deaths should be pretty easy to find.

For example, here are mine:

My other caveat I try to beat into the ground: positive tests are NOT “new cases” or indicative of the number of people actually carrying the virus. They are just positive tests.

What a surprise. Another thread is hijacked and gone off topic.

How about you guys discuss the Corona virus in one of the threads that is specifically about the Corona virus.

Here is a link if you need help.

Me either but the total number of tests won't help with the modeling (not directly at least although more testing would mean more accurate data)..only our feeling that we are doing what we should as a country. My brother-in-law has been sick for 3+ weeks with symptoms which point to Covid-19 but they wouldn't test him because of his age and lack of pre-existing conditions (even though he has asthma). He is finally getting a bit better but still cannot walk around for more than 5 minutes before he gets winded.

^That!

I’ve been asked why positive tests and tests administered cannot be extrapolated into an idea of actual infected ... because our testing has not been random or conducted on the general population. Tests have only been given to a selected pool of likely-to-be infected people. In many cases, even those people have been unable to be tested. Like @pattar said, we are going on “feel”.

Not going to get into the politics of it, but the lack of valuable testing early is what has led us to where we are. If we had good data early, we could have taken measured preventative action instead of waiting to react.

Sorry @Gambler Bob ... I’ll try to bring this full circle ... with a measured preventative response, we wouldn’t be in a virtual all-encompassing shut down with no projected end. You would be able to say “OK, tournaments in this area are allowable, but teams from that area cannot go.”

Kind of hard not to talk about it when it is THE dominant factor influencing everybody’s life right now. That’s like saying “let’s talk about who is going to be the winner of the game, but you cannot talk about the game.”

I see your point on testing. Disagree to the outcome.
Diligent response greatest impact from less infected states regardless of tests.
The virus did not make people independantly be smarter even with deaths occuring. People will get back to sports when they are allowed to. Not because it will be safer or not.

Not sure that we actually disagree ... ;)

It’s like batting first if you come out strong and putting up five runs versus the team approaching being run-ruled and then the girls decide in the third inning that they want to play.

I ABSOLUTELY agree with your last part!

Yeah, had to edit my post.
I see the points on testing.
Dont think that would have changed much.

Not sure what you are saying here. Are you saying left to their own accord teams would be playing now?
Heard recently that a 14u here in SoCal was still practicing.

Yes that is what I think he is saying and yes I agree with him. If left to their own accord, SOME teams would be practicing/playing right now although I am not sure there would be enough teams to hold a decent tournament..

Not my job to determine what is safe state to state.
When we are allowed to play again my job will be to determine if where we play is safe for my family. Best case scenario there will still be protocol that families should follow. Doesnt mean they will. As your post proves evidence.
