I was gonna start a new post with this question, but I thought I'll just add it here........

If Travel Ball starts up, say July 1st, would the season continue for all of August, then right into Fall ball? Would you want that?

We are a 2nd year 12u team. Our current revised schedule starts May 2nd. If that happens (big if), we will be able to play same number of tourneys this spring (10-11) as originally planned. If it starts anytime after Memorial Day, we will move to 14u and essentially start our fall season.

We will have to determine tryouts etc, but that is our plan.

My point was that it's strange that there are people who have immunity and don't know it. I didn't say there was anything weird about the "plan".
Thought you were speaking to the states roll out on this.
Who has immunity.
The positive tests with no symptoms are not immune. Thats why they test positive.
Symptoms occur when bodies defense to it are stronger or weaker. Then build resistance.
Plasma research should provide answers.

MA will hit 10,000 cases today; if the daily rate of increase maintains for the next two weeks, the number would increase to 72,000.

Eventually, an initial peak will be hit and the daily rate of spread will decrease, but
I think all organized sports in MA will be cancelled for the summer, including MLB.

I wish they had a figure for the total infected in each state which would give me a better idea on how safe it will be to be out and about (e.g. playing a softball tournament) at a certain date. All the resource usage tells me is the number of cases which are serious enough to be hospitalized, and I am sure that is correlated with the number of total infected, but I do not know what that correlation is.

Of course these are just models so who knows what the reality will be come May/June/July...My kid is only 10, if she misses
a season or two it isn't going to be the end of the world.
Have never seen much data on many have been tested and of those how many have tested positive.

Me either but the total number of tests won't help with the modeling (not directly at least although more testing would mean more accurate data)..only our feeling that we are doing what we should as a country. My brother-in-law has been sick for 3+ weeks with symptoms which point to Covid-19 but they wouldn't test him because of his age and lack of pre-existing conditions (even though he has asthma). He is finally getting a bit better but still cannot walk around for more than 5 minutes before he gets winded.

As @Bullseye started on ... There is a big - BIG - difference between “immune“ and ”asymptomatic”.

Asymptomatic means you DO have it and ARE/CAN BE contagious. This has been a major contributor to the problem. People don’t know they have it and go spread it more.

Immune means you cannot get it. Your body has the ability to fight off the virus. We don’t know enough about the virus yet to know about immunity. We have theories. Time had a good article: https://time.com/5810454/coronavirus-immunity-reinfection/

Even with that, there still is not a guarantee. “Common knowledge” tells us you can’t get Chicken Pox a second time. But you can. It is unusual, but it can happen.

”Herd immunity” does not make YOU immune either. It means a large chunk of the population has become immune which severely inhibits the spread of the virus.
