Thanks for the response! I honestly don’t see her torquing the handle with the hands. Not cause I’m not trying to lol. She’s got a great swing!
I don’t think you can control when your foot gets down in games. IMO you have to stride looking for the hardest pitch the girl throws. The key to hitting off speed is found is solid swing mechanics. Maintaining upper body resistance while staying balanced (centered). You can delay heel plant momentarily when fooled. JMO! Appreciate your response and insight and what you provide to DFP
She's timing the pitch with her stride. She strides to foot down, not toe then heel. If she's a little early on an off speed pitch, she'll sit into that bent front knee to delay TTB to the ball.

The barrel starts splitting his helmet and works towards his back shoulder a bit
(turn 1). it really is the back elbow slotting and the player preparing to ‘tomahawk’ or ‘ throw’ the barrel.

the second turn occurs when he is releasing(throwing) the barrel into the ball.

it’s turn-down to-turn.

AKA bat tip.

What I'm seeing is her delaying, adjusting her launch position as she's reading the pitch and sinking into her front leg, and then turning the barrel down behind and up through the ball.
As I'm was looking at yours and my dd's swings, something became apparent.
If you're swinging down, the ground is of but a small amount resistance to leverage the swing. As the bat and arms move downward and the entire body moves down into the sit or squat position, the pressure on the ground is lessened. One could extrapolate that a down to swing can't use much ground force.
When our dds sit into and then extend the front leg, they create a great deal of leverage pushing against the ground. They are literally pulling the handle upward via the leg extension causing the barrel to accelerate downward. The leg extension is also out front creating a rearward torque against the front hip. That movement effectively pulls the handle rearward propelling the barrel forward.
What do you think?

Maddie's coil, stride, stretch, and pullback all contribute to the timing of her swing as the ball is approaching. Because she can launch her swing later, we hope she's able to recognize a change in speed. If she misreads it she can stride longer and her front leg can absorb more weight.

the initial turn is after the tip in the video in question. Tip is just retraction of the scap.
So you're saying there's a pause? I've reviewed it frame by frame and the barrel continues its rearward movement/acceleration..... no pause. The space between each position grows greater each advance of frame.

Is Maddie doing the feel at the very beginning of this vid? How about the example at 34 seconds? I feel like there is a difference between moving arms to turn it vs actively using hands to turn it.

And Ive shown my DD (8y/o)videos of Maddie almost every time we hit since school got out! Thank you

She could also extend her arms forward. I'm sure everybody knows how important extension is! Lol!

I tip my bat and I can tell you first hand, it's not scap retraction. I'm pronating my rear wrist and torquing the handle as a windup to supination, torquing the handle, TTB.
