Those coaches just have different ideas of what they want.

You talked about being over looked at camps. What teams are these players on? Have they communicated with the coach prior to the camp? Has their travel coach communicated with the coach prior to the camp?

They have already recruited their pitching needs for the grad year of said player? Are they even recruiting pitchers for that grad year?

I think it is a very rare occasion when a player goes to a camp, the coach has no idea who they are and they get attention.

. My DD will not wow you in a camp setting until they start seeing movement. I think her location is her strongest advantage but that doesn't come out in a camp.

Same here with my DD. She wasn’t throwing 60+ until just recently so when it came to camps I avoided the “combines” where it’s strictly measurements and took her to camps at her schools of interest where she can face batters. That’s where she shines from a pitchers presence and execution standpoint.

First time she was at a camp at a Power 5 school she was the last pitcher called out to go against batters. She struck out 5 of the 6 batters she faced. A few innings later it was 10 minutes before camp was supposed to end and another pitcher her age couldn’t get out of an inning. The HC calls for DD to go out to the mound with a runner on 3 and no outs and she K’s the side to end the camp. She got Twitter follows from the coaching staff shortly thereafter and camp invites at the end of the season.

Seems like this happens every year. I noticed it more when DD was in the recruiting process. Since she commited we dont go to camps. This September she went to a few camps (D1 schools) where she played scrimmages. Both her and another pitcher from our organization dominated in these scrimmages. Struck out just about everyone and the coaches ignored them. Now DD went to support the org as she was invited to help and really wasn't interested in either school but the other pitcher was and didn't garner any interest. It was as if these two schools had Elish and Garcia in their barn. Part of it could be that the two pitchers weren't 6 feet tall. But they both threw hard, commanded the zone and sat dow batter after batter including their own commits.
Fast forward to today and I just peeked at their record. Two schools have a combined record of 3-17. These are fully funded D1 programs. Coaches need to open their eyes and stop searching for genetic traits that honestly have zero to do with success.
BTW both pitchers have commited to D1 schools and their future teams are doing quite well.
Height He has very little to do with pitching ability. I’ve coached up girls that were under 5‘2” that threw into the low 60s. Unfortunately you do not know what these D1 coaches may be looking for.Wassail don’t know what preconceived prejudices these coaches may have. The Most important thingIs how much force or angular momentum A pitcher can generate.

FWIW tall kids are heavily scrutinized and overlooked at college camps too. It’s not always the height and hat causes a kid to not get noticed. Usually they have other recruits that are just plain better. If size were all they cared about we would have had a dozen D1 offers. She only had one. Went to a lot of camps and several claimed she was their “number one prospect”, but no offers came of them. I really wish tall kids had it as easy as some people think. Believe it or not if they don’t work their asses off they’ll be dropped as fast as anybody else.

How'd you behave when you were there? I keep hearing from coaches that parents are make or break in the recruiting process. You came online to voice your concerns & disparage the coaches and their program. Perhaps you were the red flag.
Good try.
Not me..
I hear what you're saying though.
Been through this long ago
I get it.

A little off topic, but previous posts made me think of this.

Someone I know has a son that plays college baseball. Been at 4 schools in 4 years. Division 1, 3, juco. I forget exactly when/where. His coach 2 schools ago asked the player if he knew what was keeping him from being really good? After no response, the coach said “your parents”.
