Does anyone else have issues with the ball popping out while fielding ground balls? I am sure some of this is operator error, but more balls seem to pop free than I think should. The glove is well broken in. DD is 11 TB A/B level player and has primarily used it as a pitching glove but is playing some third base. The glove is 12” but I feel the pocket and heel seem narrow. She has a Vinci first baseman’s glove that she likes and fields very well with. And thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.

If she likes Vinci, get her a 12” ME024-M.
Thanks I have no real Vinci preference I was personally a Rawlings fan and decided to order a custom Vinci 1B mitt all leather no mesh. Not sure I am sold on the mesh? Also do any girls play third with a 12.5 as it will spend most of its time in the circle.

Rawlings fan myself!

I’d probably not order myself a mesh glove but I think it’d be great for an 11 year old. For retail gloves, Vinci’s mesh is probably the best, better than Rawlings........but Rawlings Pro-Issue mesh is definitely better.

I personally think a 12.5” for an 11 year old is too big at 3B, but I think a 12.5” is too big at 3B no matter the age. A 12.5” at 3B is what I’d use in slow pitch.

We have 3 LA gloves. DD#1 has 13” H-web she uses for pitching & MI. Never had any issues with balls popping out of this glove.

I’m a proponent of using the biggest glove you can handle so for me 12” is too small. I’m probably in the minority on this site but I wouldn’t go smaller than 12.5 for any position.

I prefer my hand all the way in the glove not half my palm protruding from the glove.

So I’m guessing either the pocket has collapsed/gone floppy due to improper storage or maybe you applied some type of conditioner recently that made the glove a little slick?

The LA’s are quality gloves at reasonable prices. If the glove is less than a year old it is still under warranty You may want to check with Rawlings and see how they respond to your issue.

My oldest had a Rawlings LA and not a fan. The ball didn’t pop out, but it got floppy quick. Granted, she plays a lot, but the glove was like a pancake after a few months.

I’m with Anna’s father on this one...12.5 is to big for third. I think a small glove let’s the find the ball and make the throw faster. At 11, that’s probably not the biggest issue, but just my thought.

My middle girl plays 3rd and uses a 12” and has since she was about 11...I definitely wouldn’t go bigger.

Never had a Rawlings LA but I'll take a shot at this and it won't cost you a nickel.

DDs glove would get dried out and it seemed that the fine clay and dirt would work its way in and make the leather just a tad slick.

Try cleaning the web/palm by wiping it down with a damp cloth and finishing off with just a bit of conditioner after it dries.

Cleaning/conditioning would return just a bit of tack.

What is the model number? Are you sure you don't have a baseball glove?
The model is RLA
