This is what is so tough about swing analysis through video or with only a couple examples.

First video early in count, normal stance and swing, high pitch out over the plate against a weak pitcher.

Second video behind in count, no stride shortened up stance and swing, low and away pitch against a quality pitcher.

Honestly if you asked her if she had two strikes on her against a really good pitcher and she shorten up her swing to make contact and the pitcher made a perfect low and away at the knee right off the plate that she is about to get rung up on and she reached out and got a double she would probably take that ever time.

I'm not a huge fan of the changing swing mechanics and approach with two strikes...but I'm not a P5 commit either. Coming back off injury like that though just gotta take it slow and easy. I'd focus on that first swing where every thing is very natural and balanced.

I hear ya. This is a video my dad took at a game I was not able to attend. Different angle, but it's one of my favorites.

Girls got some g

Your girls got some serious gumption!!! Great example of a TEAM player. Also love her bat choice of 18 Xeno.

That bat finally died and went to Valhalla. We bought it from a college player who's team switched from Louisville to Rawlings. Paid $100 for it. She had 2 more, and after DD swung it for a couple of weeks, went back to buy the other 2, but someone had already beat us to it. She was devastated.

My DD suffers from a high attack angle and it's something that we've been correcting. What I found with her is that she wasn't turning the barrel back very much she was mostly pushing her hands down to the ball. When she had a high attack angle, I wouldn't see the bottom of the knob when recording at this similar angle. We started to focus on turning the barrel and getting on plane as the first move and her attack angle went down and her plane scores on Blast went up.

I can almost see the same thing happening with your DD. Watching the start of the launch over and over it seems like she's pushing somewhat in the bottom video versus turning that barrel and getting on plane earlier in the top video. I did my best here to try and pause it at the same time. I understand that the plane of the pitch in each picture is different and it's probably difficult to see the difference in these videos so take it for what it's worth. I'd take some slo-mo videos just to verify but that's my take on it.

Blast motion is like crack for all of us softball nerds isn't it? I freakin' love that thing.

So, I was last on DFP in 2014. It's been a WILD 6 years. DD (not so darling anymore considering she's a teenager full of attitude) is a Junior in high school and committed to play at Oklahoma State.
Are you in Oklahoma? If so I am surprised Kenny (or whoever the hitting instructor is there) hasn't tried get their sticky fingers on your DD's swing yet. JT Gasso likes to get in and mess (up?) around with his local recruits swings before they even get on campus..

Kenny's not messing with her at all. We asked him from the moment she committed if there was anyone in particular they would like her to work with. Told them that her hitting coach was me. He said everything they had seen was good and just keep doing what we're doing. Now, I'm sure whenever she gets there, adjustments will be made. At that point, I'm hands off. She just hit a rough patch heading into PGF, so the last swing she felt was very steep. Just want to focus on getting her back on plane mainly. Whole reason for post was for some input on that.

With some quick fingers on the pause button, I was able to pull these frames from the other swing you posted.
You can see how she starts to get the barrel to work behind her to get on plane while the hands stay back with the rear shoulder. My guess is you'll see less of a turn of that barrel and more of the knob facing the ground in her swings now.

All good advice I'll add that if that first pitcher is gonna throw up pitches like that she needs a mask and a heart guard.
