I wonder if anyone else has dealt with this?
My daughter is 11. She has always been a good player (elite hitter, average fielder) over the last year we have discovered that she has sever scoliosis. (80 degrees for those in the know) this herb effected her hitting but made throwing angles weird and her throwing has suffered with it.
She had corrective surgery a couple weeks ago, rods and fusing T2 - L2 in her back. She actually gained 3.5 inches of height during the surgery.
She is on no activity for 4 weeks, but I think her lower half flexibility won’t suffer at all. (yes we planned her surgery around softball season, cause she wanted to miss as little as possible lol)
Has anyone else dealt with this?

best wishes for full and speedy recovery, but remember, the first part is WAY more important, do not rush things, or let her rush things.

I have scoliosis in the right shoulder area and played college baseball but never surgery for it.

Had a baseball player that had the surgery and gained about 2 inches in height. He played baseball afterwards and became a solid player. Never heard him complain about it at all.

A update here: My daughter had her surgery and it was very successful. She is still limited on her batting for another couple weeks and just started throwing again. Overall, it's like it never happened. She moves well, not limited in flexibility, and feels better than she did.
We always said that she was playing with a pain level of 7-8 for the last year with out us even knowing. Now she is pain free. I am working on getting her throwing motion corrected, as she was making adjustments based on her arm slot. She will start batting in a little while and that's where she has always excelled. Overall everything went perfect

Another update. After a Covid break for the team, we have played 3 tourneys now. She has been blasting the ball all over the field, still slow as dirt but hit a nice double on saturday where she batted .750 for the tourney. Made a move to first base and she is doing well there, doesn't have a great stretch yet but only dropped 2 balls in the past couple tourneys on odd plays.

We just found out yesterday that our DD has it. We were referred to a specialist in Shreveport, hopefully its not too bad...

Feel free to PM me with any questions. Not sure how far Dallas is for you but Scottish Right in Dallas was awesome and the expense of it all was cut by 80%. They have a whole dept that specializes in it.

Sounds scary .... but less than a year later DD is back to better than normal.
