Playing a mouthy team probably 3 years ago, their HC argued every call, every pitch, heck everything, and would not shut up, just a jerk! Anna's at the plate and had already hit a HR, this coach is sitting on a bucket just outside the 3B dugout. He called a CU and Anna pulled a laser headed right for his jewels, it hit a couple inches below his boys but the bucket exploded and he landed on his back and the back of his head!

The place went crazy with laughter and applause, he was so embarrassed, funny thing is the umps never once looked at him or checked to see if he was okay, they obviously didn't care! Timing is everything!

Speaking of those types of coaches. This isn't as funny as yours, but funny nonetheless.

Same kind of coach, always complaining. One of his players hits a ground ball down the 3rd base line and ump calls it foul.

Coach gets pissed and yells at the ump "How was that a foul ball?"

Ump points towards foul territory and tells the coach "Because it was on that side of the line!"

Everyone got a good laugh out of that.

Downer story:

Back when I ran the rec program ...

Our local fields are adjacent to the train tracks that run through town. The tracks run on the other side of the parking lot, which is a long narrow lot/alley that runs through the park. Saturday morning games, team pictures ... busy day all around.

Somebody’s dog gets hit by the train and is thrown across the parking lot right next to the playground in the outfield. The poor thing was still alive, but “all over the place”. The local on duty police officer arrives and tries to call county animal control. Animal control said they won’t respond as there is no chance of the dog surviving. So the officer has to put the dog down ...

We tried to clear as much of the park as we could. Even with two games and all the crowd noise, the shot was easily heard.

And that still wasn’t my worst day up there ...

Years ago DD’s team would frequently play a team with a hothead coach. He got tossed at a 14U state championship games etc. We were playing them in a random tournament and he was relentless, players crying, warnings from umps etc. His team was up and batted hits a blooper to centerfield. DD dives, makes the catch and sees the runner on second tag and break for third. She throws a bullet from the ground waist high on target. Somehow our third baseman misses the throw which then nails the coach square in the nuts knocking him off his feet. Laughter erupts. The plate ump saunters our to CF and tells DD that he had plans to eject the coach next time he opened his mouth but she took care of the problem for him, shook her hand and congratulated her on a perfect throw.

In a 12U tournament last Summer, A team known for having "disruptive" parents and coaches got into a dispute over a game ending call and one of the pitchers parents punched the UIC in the face.

The police were called out and questioned the coach who refused to give the name of the parent up.

The team waited 2 hours for their next game (semi-finals).

The UIC gave the head coach an ultimatum at game time. Give up the parents name or be booted from the tournament (USAAA)

The coach refused to give up the information and 12 girls left the field with their heads low... a few crying.

A sad ending for those girls unfortunately. But I feel the right call from the UIC.

WOW! Did the adults arrive in a team bus that was all white with bars on the windows?

The absolute worst I can think of as seen in Softball where an opposing coach went to argue with every call the ump made. Lots of yelling, screaming and in the face finger-pointing from the coach. its alot worse than the words Im using

I dont know how she sat there and took it. you could tell she was extremely hurt and on the verge of tears. Another umpire who was offduty even came to the field and started yelling back at the coach.

This was 10u btw. The guy is still coaching and every time DD plays the team I have my camera ready.

14 U we had a girl who used to play on our team pitching against us. One of our hitters hit a line drive that hit her in the head. I'll never forget the sound it made.

These guys are actually the easiest because everyone know they are jerks...only ever really had one that was over the line and it was super simple just walked over right to about batters box and told him loud enough so his entire group of parents in the bleachers could hear "coach one more word from you and you will be watching the game from the parking lot"; it does help that I was super laid back but always firm and in two years of umping this league never even raised my voice to a coach. Everybody knew it was not just a threat and completely out of character so something was clearly over the line...he never said another word that game. Next game he did still talk and complain but is was just the usual run of the mill stuff and much more toned down.
