Can anyone explain to me what the word elite means in a travel teams descriptor?

Is that simply the organization trying to play themselves up or is there some additional qualifiers needed to consider your team elite?

If the team has elite in their name they're probably not....note batbusters, firecrackers, hotshots, Beverly bandits, thunderbolts, etc...every time I see elite...I laugh.

I feel the exact same way. Some organization should just go all in... Have a team name like “Pensacola Thunder Ultra Platinum Elite Fastpitch”

Go to said team's 18U page and look at where their oldest team's girls are committed. That's all that really matters.

Some teams with elite in the name actually are. Typically as one top level gets saturated (everyone becomes gold) a new descriptor surfaces.

So—-any team could add elite to their name? There is no set level of achievement or a performance that must be attained prior?

It means absolutely nothing in relation to talent level of players. You can call your team/organization whatever you choose. Gold, Elite, Select, Platinum, etc...There is no qualification for attaching any perceived status moniker to your team name.
