What are the best resources for teaching IR Pitching? I don't have any instructors with 3 hours for me. I've been watching some on YouTube but I really need a reference for beginning to end. I've been watching some Bill Willhouse videos but they don't look like a true IR pitch or am I seeing that wrong? Please help... Frustrated Dad/Coach here.

I would start with the IR sticky thread on this forum, starting with the videos on lock it in and then back chaining as well as leg drive.

Hillhouse is good and you will not go wrong listening to his videos, it is true IR fear not this man knows what he is talking about.

You can also look for Tincher videos and instruction?

Are you out in the middle of nowhere? I can drive a long way in three hours...

Finally don't fear this board we are all honestly here to help, on the ground by pointing you to someone odds are somebody lives in your area or close and knows of good resources and if you post a video you will get a constructive critique, we will point to what we think are the most inportant flaws to address and give drills and pointers that will help.

First of all Thank you for the response. That's why I can to this forum to get some advice. I know that everyone here is awesome. Secondly we live in Eastern IA. Closest big city to me is Davenport IA if that helps at all. When I have been looking for instructors. On the Tincher map the closest was Ames IA which is just over 3 hours away for me. And then Bloomington IL which is just under 3 hours away for me.

I've got a playlist running, presented in a kind-of progressive order. You have to watch on YouTube to get the full playlist:

Edit: I cleaned a couple things up and resaved it to a public channel, rather than my personal.
Here's the URL for people looking for it: youtube.com/playlist?list=PL1hFFCeOiRYY83vy7VXHWtzByWvE2YTKi

Look up a few college softball teams online that are in your area. You will probably find a few pitching coaches under their staff listings you can contact. Some give lessons while others can probably refer you to someone who does. Many coaches are not visible just doing an online search. That's one advantage of being a Tincher coach, it's like being the Applebee's of pitching. Great product, and easy to find.

mccdee, I don't envy your position, trying to figure out what's what in a world of endless options. Do I go with a Tincher coach vs. someone who lists 300 students going to college on their site? Etc. Etc. I moved to Omaha 4 months ago and am amazed at the instruction here, and not in a positive way. But as Frank Drebin said on the Naked Gun when asked "When will criminals ever learn their lesson?" .... as soon as they do, I'll be out of a job!!!!

Someone replied about seeking help from college coaches, and make no mistake, even in the college ranks there is the good bad and ugly in the pitching department. But they are under tight NCAA regulations about providing lessons so that's not always an option.

You're not alone in your position. I've known parents and families that drive 6 hours for a 1 hour lesson. And ones that fly in from various parts of the US for 2-3 lessons over a weekend. If you and your DD are serious about this, never settle for someone because they're local. As in many things, you get what you pay for.
