My 8 y/o daughter has taken to catching and is asking for a catcher's mitt for Christmas. Not looking to break the bank on an 8 y/o, so figured I'd see if anyone is looking to get rid of theirs. Reply here or direct message me - thanks!

unless she is catching really hot pitchers for 10u, you could try Mizuno prospects softball mitt. it is pretty easy to close, no extensive break in needed, and you can get it for 50 bucks new.

Thanks, bmakj. Are you referring to this one?

yes, that is the one. and it pretty much is ready to use right way. I rubbed in some oil, we played catch for a while, and she was comfortable with it.

things to keep in mind, both padding wise and size wise, probably have to get something different for 12u. at least the model we have, did not seem to handle 12 in ball that well (but pocket does seem bigger now in pics), and even her second year of 10u, pitchers started throwing too hard for this mitt (although you can do what did while we got her AS CMW300 broken in (which took a bit), get an inner padded glove (approx $15-$20)

Not sure if you are still looking, but I came across a Vinci Mitt for sale on OfferUp for 100 bucks. Mitt looked pretty new so might be something to look into. It was located in Shadow Hills, CA. Here’s what the listing said:

Vinci Softball catchers glove. This glove is almost new never been on the field and still needs to be broken in. VINCI 33” JCV-VM Fastpitch Catcher's Mitt

A Vinci JCV-VM will be WAY too much for an 8yo newbie catcher to handle. For young hands, it will be impossible to close, and too heavy to handle effectively. Don't get me wrong, it's an outstanding mitt at an excellent price, but not a good fit for SCS's DD at this point.

@So Cal Seth ...Another vote for the Miz Prospect for a first mitt. If she sticks with catching, you'll probably need to upgrade in about a year.
