Hey all! I was wondering what HS coaches are wearing for game days? I’ve been at a school that had to have collared shirts and khaki pants or shorts. I just recently got a head coaching spot and looking to see if I can change or keep the same. Thanks for your input!

Depends where you’re at. In PA I’m wearing as many layers as I can until about mid-late April! ;)

Seriously - If it’s warm, my staff and I are in grey/black/khaki shorts and some type of team shirt or bp jacket. Be it a polo or dry fit t-shirt. As long as it doesn’t look old and bad.

I wish you all the best!

I wear cowboy boots. :)

Georgia clay ruins just about any other shoes.

The high school coaches around these parts almost all wear a Logo shirt (usually a polo shirt) and athletic shorts/pants and running shoes.

Thank you! I live in Western Pa and I’m a shorts guy year round almost. The head coach before me allowed me to wear khaki shorts and the polo shirts. I was just curious on what others are doing.

Check your state association rules ... yes, there are rules on what coaches can and cannot wear in NFHS.

2010, coaching in the Illinois state championship game - Our opponents HC comes to the pregame meeting in grey jeans and black cowboy boots, which he had literally worn for 40+ years coaching, including the day before during the opening round game. Umpires tell him he’ll be restricted to the bench if he coaches in those clothes. He doesn’t budge, and out he comes to coach 3rd at the top of the 1st. Nothing is said, again.

I get it’s a rule, but that one is silly.

You don't tell us ranchers what we can and can't do. :)

Coach Foster, you have to give us a hint! I’m going to go out on a limb and say it was 2a or 1a?
