His weight isn't anywhere just like the length of his nose isn't anywhere either. His center of mass on the otherhand..got it Socrates? A professor retort would be fair game here btw ;)

Also which Turner are we talking about here?

Ok. Where is the COM during his forward move?either Turner...

Right. Where is the weight during his forward move? Which plane? How does he maintain the back leg/hip relationship while getting so far forward? But staying ‘back’.

So I pulled up a Josh Donaldson video as that is who I have used as a template and I see it. My and my DD's upper half gets a backward tilt toward the catcher. All of them maintain a pretty vertical spine on their move out. Any drills to work on moving out while keeping the upper body directly under the hips.

I think it’s more of an intent issue. Creating a load in the Sagittal plane and maintaining the results of that load throughout will cure the balance issue. I wouldn’t think in catcher/pitcher plane of motion. That part is automatic if the load is right.

Mimicking a Mike Trout load will help. Your dd has half of it down already. Now it’s just a matter of mimicking the whole thing. Note the position of the head.

Some say , ‘just FBC’ but that still puts the mass out of position... lagging behind. It should lead in space when shifting your weight to the middle to leverage the swing.

Coil will be the result of a good load(core coil). Which in turn counter rotates the core and upper half and sends the body into a natural ‘hips then hands’ sequence while in balance.

Hip coil is fine but not a staple. It will accentuate the loading of the core. As well as help with maintaining your ‘load’.

Are you getting at the upperbody/scap load keeps him coiled? The mass is moving forward, but you load/coil against the move out. That keeps the weight loaded/back.

‘Weight’ was fine.
Not if you want to use the word weight correctly. Weight doesn't have a position in space associated with it hence my comparison to asking where his nose length is during his move out..

Imo the scap action is a balancing action. But not the main contributor to staying ‘back’. Look at Justin Turner. Hardly any scap action.. Maintaining the load/posture is the main contributor and keeps a hitter balanced throughout imo.

It really is a full body action to stay in dynamic balance throughout imo.

The saying ‘ a sequence of balanced actions’ really resonates with me.
