Just out of curiosity and to keep this catchers mitt thread alive...what would be your "top of the line choices"? Currently available mitts only. ;-)
Theres a lot of personal preference involved, just like with bats. When we got DD a top of the line mitt, a former catcher told me padding and pocket were the most important thing to consider. Padding was obvious, but a pocket that forms too deep will actually slow your transfer of you have to “pull” the ball out. She stuck a ball in DD’s wore out Mizuno with an H web and showed me how the pocket had become too deep.

Now DD has used nothing but Vinci since she was 13, so they rank #1 on her list. Definitely the best padding of any mitt I’ve seen. The only issue she’s had is the pocket lacing breaking after two years. One broke a couple weeks ago at college and her coach relaced it for her. Coach told DD she loves restringing gloves so I guess it’s really a non issue now. Haha!

I wanted to get DD a custom HOH without a Dual Core palm for college, but she shrugged it off right in front of ANNASDAD! How embarrassing, right in front of the Rawlings King himself!😂

Well, I definitely like a kid who knows what she likes! And I was so proud of myself fighting back the tears after she politely stomped on my heart! 😔

Good question. I'll let the experts chime in here, I have no clue. It does however look like DD has won the position on her squad for this year. Quite unexpected.

fyi - I went to JDaddy for this question (off line). I value his opinion.

Not IRONMAN, and to keep this thread going ;), for a straight up retail glove, I’d go this route, especially for the money!

In order for me (and my catcher DD) if I knew she was a dedicated catcher and was going to play that position for more than a couple years.

**A true custom Rawlings HOH.
**That All-Star that I just posted a link to.
**And 3rd, a Vinci.

In that order for me!

IRONMAN, very smart of you to reach out to Jdaddy for mitt advice, he knows his stuff, especially if you’re already interested in a Vinci ;)

That All-Star is a safe bet, I beat the absolute crap out of mine for 5 years, of course I’m not putting actual game time on one like a player would.

Just keeping a thread alive!

Heck, she didn’t even want a custom Vinci Optimus! When I told her I picked another one up on eBay cheap, she said it is a JCV-VM, right?? 😂

Well, now I know what to replace DD's AS CMW4000 with. It's lasted 5 years (3 TB and 2 of college) but the padding is breaking down now. She refuses to give it up though. I'm thinking this AF might be the answer.

If she liked the AS CMW4000, why not get another one?
