Answer this....if the barrel is below the hands, how here is the knob pointed?

The knob position is ever changing based on what the pitch calls for.. Why put the focus on one position ?

You keep showing release points of swings. That part is automatic. How about what your advocating against which is ‘swing down’. Bet 1-2 frames before contact the barrel is above the hands out of plane.

Which is not knob ‘up’. That would be knob down. As in swing ‘down’. Correct?

Yes, if the pitch is over my head, I keep the knob pointed down.

We're talking about turning the barrel and teaching a girl who swings down at the ball to get her barrel on the plane of the pitch that is falling. So getting her to feel the knob pointing upward is a good teach.

How about getting a bat and TRYING it yourself and feel what it does when you let the raised barrel rotate beneath your hands (and the knob will point upward) onto the plane of an incoming pitch. Then we can talk.

create the load in the sagittal plane instead of the frontal plane. That will get rid of the pullback and the reach.

The only way to keep the barrel above the hands is to keep the hands moving downward and you can be a "knob to the ball" hitter rather than a "rotate the barrel" hitter. Good luck.

The gif of Alonsos a great example of how strong and good these guys are. That is by know means an ideal swing. That is not his intentional swing. He did not get all of that one. When facing MLB pitching these guys can get in all kinds of weird and less than optimal positions. We need gifs from tee swings, front toss and BP to see what they are doing in an optimal situation. You could take Mike Trout gifs that show him one legged and others that show him two legged. Different pitches cause different swings.

Bobby, what happens when the hitter gains fyb ground and becomes leveraged against the core (obliques) stretching ? The hands get a chanced to be pulled down.

Interesting debate.
Lol. It seems there are different philosophies to hitting. Ie swinging the bat. I’ll just have to play with it and try to get the intended result.
