My daughter is a 2021, who plays on a high level team. She's a great outfielder and had lots of offers to play of/mi this year on good teams but chose to stay. We were told she was most likely going to be the cf and now this seemingly has changed and they are mostly putting her in rf. So I need advice ... should we try to switch teams? I'm concerned that college coaches that are interested will lose interest when they see her in rf. Ive had several college coaches tell me they would think twice about recruiting someone who mainly played rf. Thanks in advance!

Can she hit? Does she hit in the top half of the lineup? Most OF are recruited based on if their bangers. Schools can move OF'ers anywhere in the OF. But if your kid can hit she will get scooped up by the school of her dreams.

She can hit. She had the 4th highest BA on the team out of 13 players last year but they never move her higher than 7th. I'm coming to the conclusion that she needs a new team unfortunately.

If she has the 4th highest batting average and batting 7th has she addressed it with coaches? Does she have schools coming to see her in showcases?

She does. She had schools going to see her all summer. She has gone on some official visits and they all are planning to watch her this fall but now I'm worried they are going to lose interest. She needs to ralk6to the coaches but I don't think it will make a difference.

In my limited recruiting experience I’ve seen college coaches ask for certain players to be put in other positions - even positions they might not typically play - to see them outside of their comfort zone and how they react. I would not think a college coach seeing her in RF would be a negative thing. Usually the OF with the stronger arm will be in RF. If a coach wants to see her in CF they will ask to have her put there. When she goes to camps this wouldn’t matter much anyway as they run through OF drills.

Does her coach reach out to the college coaches for her? Does the recruiting coordinator ask where the college coach would like to see her play when they show up to see her? If not then you might consider making that move. Our team will always switch players out no matter what team we are playing, nor the score. We are not there to win at all costs, we are there to get the girls seen. If a college coach shows up and wants to see dd pitch she will go in the very next inning. The coaches support it, and the team support it.

If a college coach is there to see your daughter her TB coach should have a conversation the college coach as soon as they arrive. I tell the college coaches that we are there for them and ask them to tell us what players they want to see at what positions and I make it happen. I will go so far as to have a kid hit every inning and adjust what pitches are being thrown in order to get some balls to a player that has coaches watching. All of our players and parents understand why we do this and are onboard. If her current TB coach won't do the same, find another team where the coaches are committed to getting her recruited.

This... Your kid will get recruited off of her bat, not if she is in LF, CF, or RF when coaches are there to watch.

As others have said, if you travel ball coach isn't doing their job in communicating with you and the coaches, then it's time to look for another team.
