When to play music between innings?

My daughter is a member of a travel softball team. We play music for the girls between innings. We had been told, by someone with way more knowledge than us, that it was the unwritten rule to play the music for your team as your team left the field and was coming up to bat. However, we continue to find teams that either do not follow this rule, or are not aware of it, and play the music on the opposite schedule, which is when their girls are taking the field.

What is the "rule"? Should the music be played as your team comes up to bat? Or as your team takes the field?

It may be faux pas without us knowing it but my wife runs our music and we play music every half inning. When the girls are coming to bat and when they are going out into the field, it doesn't matter. We have done that for years and I have never heard of these rules but it wouldn't surprise me.

Unless you are at the only field in the complex the answer is never. Your music is nothing more than a bush league annoyance to everyone else in the middle of an inning. Pretend it is not your first rodeo and teach your team a life lesson about courtesy for others and that the world does not revolve around them.

as for the multiple field complexes, it is more complex than that rise. been to a lot of complexes where field are fairly far apart. now if a cloverleaf configuration, I agree, can it.

what about walkup music? 2018 nationals, my older DD put walkup song each player on younger DDs team selected, played it as walk up music. girls loved it, 10u at the time, ranged from ACDC dirty deeds to pink fluffy unicorns (do not google that, you cannot unhear it)

The correct answer is never especially once you get past 12U, but hey, that isn't going to stop anyone in the wild west of parents in 12U and younger.

Do whatever you want. There is no rule on who gets to play music or when. Try not to be obnoxious. Turn it off whenever the game is actually in play. Control your volume. Don't overplay someone else already playing. If a game official tells you to turn it off, turn it off.

I love when people claim 'the girls love it' but 99% of the music is suspiciously from the parent's youth.

definitely has to come from the girls, that is correct. and definitely needs to be screened by coaches ahead of time.

So the other team doesn't get to play music? Seems that giving each team equal half-innings makes sense.

I do agree that the volume needs to be respectful. For the team in the field to hear it between innings, it would have to be amazingly loud. Makes sense to me the hitting team would get that half inning.

I do like the walk-up songs and like music between innings. But it must turn off well before a ball is pitched.
