Traveling to Myrtle Beach for a Triple Crown event. Does anyone have knowledge if two specific rules appear in the USA Rulebook.

1. Verbal Obstruction.

2. Bunt rule: Can a batter hold out the bat in attepmt to bunt. If the pitch is a ball and she does not attempt at it, is it a ball.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Don't recall on the obstruction in USA, but on the bunt, no the batter does not have to withdraw the bat if they do not make an attempt to bunt.

There is a case play in nfhs about verbal obstruction, but to the best of my memory in USA there is a case play in USA about a runner tagging up on a fly ball and a member of the defense yells go. The ruling is that the appeal for leaving before the catch would stand because the runner should recognize their coaches voice.

Awesome. Thank you. If you hear anything about the verbal obstruction rule please let me know.

This is always a good reference for differences between USA/NCAA/NFHS rules:

Comp answered the bunt rule.

I don't remember there being specific language about verbal obstruction in USA Softball. Don't be an A$$ and you shouldn't have to worry about it. If you are planning on being an A$$ then don't be surprised if you get called out on it. I see from your post that you may plan on being an a$$ - or maybe just trying to run the fake throw/ball in outfield trick (this one no one should be calling).

More importantly - you MUST try to avoid a pitch to get a HBP.

Oh, and illegal pitches still advance any on-base runners.

Also TCS East is a no-protest event, so you can't protest. So if the umpire gets it wrong -tough luck.

Yeah. Won't be an A$$ I promise. Just want to make sure I run the play according to the rules, if the opportunity presents itself. Yes. Ball in the outfield. Coaches remeber stay in the coaches box and don't get caught talking with parents in the stands. LOL. Thank you. I appreciate it.

That is pitiful for any organization taking you money to play. And I'm not talking about a protest fee, they should never exist
