Ok looking for some advice from the resident experts here. DD just got her new 2020 Ghost (34/24) and has gotten to the point where she is breaking bats. Between weekly hitting lesson and T work at home, she is likely putting about 750-1000 swings a week on a bat. My question is should I let her use her primary for everything and if/when it breaks, hopefully within a year, send it for replacement? Or should I pickup and practice bat and save her new one as the “game only” bat? If a practice bat is the recommendation what are thoughts on swinging up a size 34/9 with it in practice to build up bat speed on her gamer? Or stick with same size?

Save primary bat for game. Nothing wrong with under and over loading either (Light and Heavy bat) to build up bat speed. But I would suggest both under and over, not just one.

I picked up an old wooden baseball bat for my DD (Over, just make sure mechanics do not break down when she swings) and a cheaper lighter bat for under. The remainder of the swings she uses a dinged up old bat the same length as her game bat.

eh, I subscribe to my DD using her game bat in any and all batting situations. That being said, once a bat starts getting old, aka 7-9 months of lots of hitting, I'll get another one that she'll start breaking in. Once the current one goes, there's a backup "proven" one ready to take it's place.

I especially like having another bat ready to go for PFG and USA Elite Champs in the next 2 and 4 weeks... Daughters ghost needed 4 tests to barely pass last year in PGF. Not something I'd like to repeat.

Obviously a big strong girl......I'd definitely get her a cage / BP bat! Check around for an older 34" Rocketech, or probably better yet, look for her a 34" Mako or Torque since she's a Easton girl.

Here ya go.

AD just beat me to it....fortunately we had a couple of old tanks (Easton Mako's) that were still holding tough and weighed the same as the girl's newer Ghost so they became the workhorse bat for T work, etc.. Core was right when he recommended that bat to me for my twins! And we were given a Stealth at one of the Select 30 camps, it never saw a game but took a lot of cuts in the garage.

I have told this to everybody...get a cheap bp bat to beat the sh!t out of. Why beat up a gamer and break it just
for friggin' T work or whatever else. New bats arent like the tanks of old.

This is also what makes me laugh when people say, hey, my bat broke and it only lasted 10 games...haha. I always
think in my head, wonder how many non-game swings did it take. Yeah, 75 games swings...4000 bp/toss/T swings :)

This has kinda been my strategy so far but I got caught this year without a backup as she sized up from 33/23 and busted her 2018 Ghost. I like your idea of 7-9 month bat rotation. I’ll keep that in mind. Thx

Thx AD, yeah she is a big strong 12u playing up to 14. I like the Rocketech suggestion as that would make a great BP bat for winter time. Might also keep my eyes open for a Mako. Do you happen to know how the swing feels compared to the Ghost?
