My daughter is a sophomore but is not big at all (5-4, 110 lbs.). She has always liked drop 11 DeMarini’s. We went to the 31/21 ASA Ghost last year and the ball exploded off of the bat. We had a couple of USSSA tourneys and she used a 31/21 Quatro Pro and a 31/21 LXT. She hated both of them. Just a feel thing I guess because she did not hit well with either. Near the end of the season I just didn’t see the same pop from the Ghost. It’s not cracked. I just think the ball comes off flat unless it’s hit on a very small sweet spot. So this fall it was back to a 32/21 Zen and she hits the ball hard consistently. She swings angry and generates good bat speed with the drop 11. I think she loses noticeable bat speed with the drop 10 so we are off of that for now. She said she likes the feel of the lighter bat. She can swing hard but maintains bat control.

We bought the 32/21 Power Carbon over the winter and she really likes it. She said it swings lighter than the Ghost but heavier than the Zen. The Zen is a 32/21 and the Ghost is a 31/21. She swung the 32/22 PC and felt it was way too heavy for her. The PC is loud and the ball travels well off of it. Like the Zen she hits the ball consistently hard with the PC. Not a lot of miss-hits (if there are miss-hits the bat must be very forgiving). She has not hit the PC in games yet. A lot of tee work and batting practice with her travel team. I’m pretty confident that will be the go to bat for the spring/summer season.
Thanks a million for your post. My DD is very similar to yours, she is 14 and swung the 32/22 Ghost last year, it was a good bat for her, but I always felt something was not quite right. Prior to that she swung a 31/21 CF9 and before that a 31/20 CF8, before that a Worth Legit 31/21 Orange bat. She has a lot of bat speed and is very strong for her size, Almost 5'3". When she switched from the worth 31/21 to the CF8 31/20 the difference was astounding. She had a monster season and despite her small size was the power hitter on her team. I am hoping for the same transformation with the PC drop 11. I know it's the Indian not the arrow.. but I've seen the right arrow in her hands and it was a difference maker

Just out of curiosity, what size bats are the other girls on her team swinging? For a strong kid her size that seems awfully light/small, no? I have no reference in terms of what size bats girls of different ages typically swing outside of what my DD's 10U team does.

Our team is a 16u team (9th and 10th graders). Most swing 32/22 and a lot of them are LXT’s. Couple 33/23 but those are girls way bigger than my kid. I believe my kid is the only kid with a drop 11.

Nice..maybe I can get my 9YO to keep swinging her 31/21 for another 4 or so years and save me 700 or 800 bucks!! ;)

Most are swinging 32/22.. There are some very big girls on her team, 5'10", 5'9" and not rakes either, :). Strong and athletic. These girls are swinging 33. My DD is almost 5'3" and about 115 - 120 lbs. She had no problem handling the 32/22 Ghost, but like I said something did not seem right, could of been mechanics, not sure. It might be light, , but I don't think it will be too light.

She's 14 btw

I just wasn't sure what was typical at that age and just surprised because my 72lb 9 YO swings a 31/21 and has no issues catching up to 50+ from 35 feet, crappy swing and all ;)

Two things really impressive here.. 1. 50+ from a 9 year old, wow!. And the fact your DD has no issues catching up to it. Maybe her swing isn't crappy at all, just her dad thinks so, :). JK.. or maybe the heavy bat is hurting her mechanics? Seen vids of your DD btw, she's going to be a good one!
