cvsoftball That's why in my OP I put in a line about maybe a self rating on a scale from H/E to Java/RP/BM. I was kidding about actually putting that but there is a notes section. You can just put what you said above in there. So someone just learning maybe wants to start with you if they don't have a chance to go with Java or another person the deem "better" (for lack of a better term).

Edit: This list is not discriminatory. You don't have to be "certified" or the best. All this list says is that you follow dfp threads and you've read I/R in the Classroom, and drive mechanics, and hopefully more.

The list on this particular post is not a certified list nor can it tell you how well someone teaches certain aspects. It's just a start of list of people who have at least been on this forum and have read through this forum at some point because how else would they have found the list. I agree that you can certify someone and it doesn't always mean that they will recognize issues or work on the right problems first. I believe there is another thread that java started that asks what's important for a person if there was a certification process. For instance if fastpitch foundations started one, I for one would sign up the second it was posted. I don't care about the certificate I just want to learn everything they have to offer and I'm willing to pay for it.

I guess a certification means that at least the instructor was willing to learn and further their education and explore other peoples opinions. That sometimes is the most important thing.

So... yeah... we (Fastpitch Foundations) will be offering certification. As per many of Bill's concerns... we won't be handing out paper certifications. Those that decide this is for them will:

Need to take all of our courses
Need to pass all of our online examinations
Be certified at different levels (we call them Silver, Gold, & Platinum)
Need to certify in order (as listed above)
Need to pass a background check
Need to submit examples of teaching for review
Need to meet (online or in person) will all FF principals
Need annual re-certification
Need to stand on one foot, while patting the head, rubbing their own belly, all the while chanting (chant is TBD). ;)

We have made so much progress... but like anything that has my name on it... it is very extensive. Hoping to get the ball rolling soon. I've given up on dates... but it's coming.

Truthfully, we hope our program helps EVERYONE... even other certified programs. We have decided to offer to ANYONE and EVERYONE... put ourselves out there. In doing so, we will create ACCOUNTABILITY for all of our certified coaches... perhaps even knock down a few walls/veils that are up out there, too.

Stay tuned!

I have to tell you, I went to a pitching coach on recommendation. A Lovely woman who my daughter immediately took to. She immediately put my daughter into palm down at 3:00. I asked about palm up instead. She immediately said, "Like Hillhouse?" She shivered like no way. Then said "It is bad for the arm to pith that way."

OMG... I've been doing it wrong all these years?? Gee, I wonder where I could've pitched if I hadn't done things the way I have!! Maybe if I had done my pitching differently, I could've pitched for EARTH instead of just a solo country. Or I could've pitched on that 7th continent of the world, instead of only 6 of 7 (although finding games in Antarctica is difficult). Maybe my arm would've lasted from the time I was 12-40+ (not giving away my age) if I had done it differently, oh wait... it did last. LOL. I'm being silly, of course. But, statements like that baffle me. Bad for the arm? How? It's ok to say I disagree, and here's why.... but to say it's bad for the arm without stating why? That's just unchristian, as Donnie Baker would say. Personally, I have never disagreed with a coach then not explained the difference, even if I thought that other coach was off their rocker. I would always explain why. I'd also counsel them to watch clips of the best pitchers in the world (male and female) and see what they are actually doing, not what they claim to be doing or think they are doing. What are they ACTUALLY doing? A lot of pitching coaches in the Pitching Coach Mafia should use this new invention called VIDEO and see what people are actually doing with their bodies when they throw a ball. Off my soap box.
