What is your concept of "short to". Would you consider what the OP's DD is doing "short to"?

Edit: Also, you probably know that I am not big on instruction at your DD's (or mine) age anyway. However
if you are going to give instruction, then you might as well try to instruct what you think you want them to be
doing when they are 14 rather than what you think they can do now only to have to change it as they get older...
IMO of course and since you have seen my DD's swing you probably should take my advice with a grain of salt ;)

Very much what FFS stated above in post # 34. is short to, but I also think of after maintaining the "vee" you still take your hand through the ball to extension. At least that the way I've always looked at it.

Is the OP's DD "Short to"? I would say no, because she is pushing a little, sure, But on the other hand, its not a case of "Just turn the barrel." Take the same swing she has now and have her start with a lower hand set, start separating more during stride, leading with the hips and see what happens to the swing. At least that's my opinion.

Right, but in order to do what FFS is stating in post #34 you need to be torquing the handle, turning the barrel around the rear forearm, getting the barrel behind the ball, etc, etc. as soon as you start to launch. Also, yes, I agree that she needs to create more stretch/tension in her body. Doing either one without the other is inefficient. Again, I would like to see her hit a live ball. This might be a case where her tee swing is actually worse than her live ball swing...

The way I view it. You don't have to manufacture a torque to maintain the "Vee". That's through repetition of staying "Connected". to the rear shoulder. The bat being heaver on one end will turn as needed on its own as you take you hand forward through the ball as the shoulders and torso opens up.

Then why not teach/learn the correct way from the 'get go'. Not saying that teaching 'short to' is incorrect but, is part of 'turn the barrel'.

Not to side track here, but is there any TTB happening while the elbow lowers in this clip?

Seriously ... if you teach the 'short hands' leveling process that puts the lead-arm on plane beginning at 'swing launch', and if you teach 'short to' in terms of the rear-arm remaining in Vee formation as the shoulders become turned, then many will then 'naturally' "turn the barrel".

I think teaching TTB from the "get go" might not be the best option for say a 7 to 10 year old girl. They simply don't have the hand strength to control the barrel let alone "snap" the barrel. Starting with a more neck slot position and getting them to understand torso pull is a much better place to start. I disagree with the notion that if you get them to TTB things will fall in place. Get them to throw the bat with their torso muscles and thing might start to align.

On the long thru video, is that a good example of not bleeding the corner? Are his hands flying off the merry go round there?
