I have been looking for a fastpitch glove that will work in both infield and outfield. My DD plays the left side of the infield, and center field. We have been looking to replace her worn down Easton glove. She liked the Nokona Classic Walnut and the Rawlings Wing Tip that we saw at Dicks Sporting Goods, but selection was real limited. The problem was that the wrist adjustment was not really available or difficult. She likes wearing the glove tight around the wrist. The glove sizes were 11.75 to 12. She is 5'5" and is a sophmore in HS. She plays travel all summer and fall. Any recommendations would be appreciated. Thank you.

My DD wears a Rawlings custom series 12” (RCS120M) at 3rd. The hand stall is small so her hand doesn’t wiggle around in there and gives her a solid feel. There’s no wrist strap to pull down tight on this one. Your DD will want to be careful and not pull a wrist strap TOO tight. It will restrict her extensor tendons and prevent her from closing the glove around the ball all the way. We learned that the hard way on a catcher’s mitt. Best to put a glove on, close it, and then pull that wrist strap down tight. When the glove opens up the wrist strap will feel slightly loose, but that’s where the extra added benefit of the smaller hand stall comes in handy, if you’ll pardon the pun.

Post edit: Rawlings no longer makes the glove my DD wears, but you can build one on their site that’s very similar.

What size glove does she currently use? A lot of upper end gloves go away from the velcro straps - Most the Vinci gloves I sell have the open back - on Vinci gloves we can adjust it down a size so it is much more snug on the wrist, without velcro.

This is my DD in her old glove, at 12yo with out the open back closed down https://imgur.com/SclEKqh
DD with the open back on the tighter slot - https://imgur.com/8K03wuS

The open back gloves do have just a hair more give then the velcro on the tighter strap down, but they are snug my DD is about the tiniest girl on her team at 12(and 14 lol)

We do also offer upper end gloves with velcro like the RCV125 - which is listed at a 12.5 (but is really a 12.25) Kip leather and would be a decent fit for dual roles. If she wanted to try an open back, then I recommend the tried and true BV-1929-L. Gloves retail for 229+ shipping, but I can do a better price as a dealer. Send me a message if you would like to a quote. All and all it really depends on what her comfort is.

Thank you both so much for replying. My daughter currently wears a Easton Mako Pro Series (mkfp1275bkwh) with an H-Back. I think it is a 12.75, but am not sure. She has liked it a lot. It does have a velcro strap for the wrist, but understand that too tight on her wrist is not good either. I will PM you on the gloves you mentioned, and thank you.

Hate to be the one to say it, but sometimes a girl who plays multiple positions needs multiple gloves, I see it every weekend. With a girl like your DD who plays such a heavy yearly schedule, don’t go the cheap route! Get her a solid glove made out of Steerhide like a Heart of the Hide, a A2000, a Mizuno Pro-Select, also throw Gloveworks in the mix. Actually a 12.5” Mizuno Pro-Select is a great option!

ANNASDAD - I appreciate the honesty! Her other position is catcher and uses the All-Star mitt, so I completely understand. I am okay in purchasing two gloves, what sizes do you recommend for 3rd vs outfield? It was just a bit confusing at the store...thank you.

UPDATE: I see the links you provided were 12.5 -_ Will that work for both infield and outfield?

Yes, it’ll work for both and it’s a solid choice.
