I don't agree either.

Yes, you prepare to launch your swing on every pitch ... and yes, failure to adequately prepare leaves many young developing hitters unprepared to launch their swing.

For sure. I see it less now in 14U TB with most players having experience at a high level of play, but at younger ages, it was pretty common to see players having trouble adapting to faster pitching because their intent was flawed and preparation wasn't happening early enough. IMO, a big part of intent is having a "predator" attitude when you step into the box.

I would say that there should always be a preparation to launch on every pitch. IMO, this is what Enquist is talking about - intent and preparation to hit. Most times, the process will be aborted prior to launch. Less often, the process will be aborted after launch.

Young hitters adopting an "always yes, until it's no" mentality is a good thing.

Alabama Softball used to have (may still be there) YES YES NO on or near the foul poles. Same intent.

FFS -- Are the mechanics involved in 'preparing' to swing part of the swing? In what ways would preparation be 'separate from' the swing itself? Where's the point of delineation and why? In your opinion, what's the difference between *abandoning* in the 'prepare to swing' phase vs. abandoning in the 'launch the swing' phase? TKS.

RichK ... I teach the 'preparation to swing' as part of the entire 'swing sequence'. To me the 'move out' isn't simply creating separation ... but is more about preparing the torso in the launching of the swing. The way I teach it the 'preparation to swing' is a big part of timing the ball in flight.

Is the video description below truly correct?

Is there a 'Go!' decision in the swing?

Is a decision being made to 'stop the bat' with a swing that is always launched? Is it more that one is moving out in preparation to launch the swing'?

As you know, we just tried to answer this. Are you also curious about the go?

Sorry Mann, I am not following you. Not sure what you are referencing with "As you know, we just tried to answer this."

I am not overly curious about the Go! ..... the reality is that a 'decision' is made to 'go' ... and that during the 'move out' that one is preparing their body to support the 'decision' to 'go'. Keep in mind that the 'point of no return' is not 'go'.

Is "go" when the hands decide they know where the ball is? Does "slot" happen as part of "go"? I agree on the move out, and prepping the body to swing, really important. I will try to be more clear on my hands and go. in a hurry right now.
